Mariah got hate like Madonna too

Featured Replies

Just found this out, I never realized this happened. :deadbanana:

Notice how Mariah didn't use these instances to go ahead and blame other female artists like Madonna fans tried to insinuate was the reason for Madonna bashing Whitney.

The first minute of that video was actually really shocking and disturbing. I had no idea Sandra was such a terrible person. How is this person platformed as a spokesperson for the LGBT community and treated like a trailblazer? She shouldn't get work.

This has nothing to do with Madonna or Whitney though and the op is extremely corny. This is hate speech, it's not a gotcha for anybody or their fans.

No this is like actually such a disturbing wakeup call after seeing her play a sanitized version of herself in Pose, the issue in the queer community with racism has always been this abhorrent, the older generations just sanitize how bad they were. How are you going to missing basic civil rights and think you're above a single damn person? Dumb karen :deadbanana4:

The FACT IS, ALL OF THE MAJOR FEMALE ARTISTS got hate and didn't use it as a vehicle to bash each other, Madonna did.

It's always surprising to me when people don't know how disgusting that woman was. I was irritated to see her on Severance.

Yeah this is typical. And of course white media didn't care she's some rebranded icon now lol BS.

Mariah's 2001 hate campaign was

one of the worst an artist had experienced up until that time in how mainstream and vile it was. This was more isolated, but they definitely were quite misogynistic and racist as she found more freedom in the mid 90s.

Why making it about that

I guess this justifies her being mean to Jlo and others

Are you ok sweetie? What does this have to do with Madonna?

We don't know any of these people personally :rip: the fact is, Madonna never publicly bashed Whitney, it was a private letter from the 90's that was put up for auction in 2017. God knows what Mariah, Janet, Beyoncé, Gaga, etc. think of each other behind close doors.

That fact is, six days before she passed, Whitney was cheering Madonna on while watching the Super Bowl perf by shouting, "Go Maddy!" and Madonna expressed grief over Whitney's death and called her a "brilliant artist". They had clearly moved on from 1992 and maybe you should too.

Madonna herself admitted that she envied Houston's talent and probably made those comments out of insecurity at the lowest point of her career, this is not the "gotcha!" moment you think it is :rip:

Quote

"I remember looking at her singing and hearing people talk about her, and just thinking, 'Oh my God. She's such a beautiful woman and my God, what an incredible voice. I wish I could sing like that.' I just remember being extremely envious of her and also touched by her innocence," Madonna said.

If you want to respond to a thread and have a single person understand what you're saying, respond in that thread. Don't make a new one.:suburban:

Obviously the biggest women in the business will get public hate but let's be completely realistic, Madonna gets way more hate and vitriol than Mariah has ever had. OP is entirely pathetic

Madonna didn't "lash out", it was a comment in a private letter. If you can provide all of Mariah's private communications throughout time and prove she has never been shady to anyone, then you might have a point. Ironically, I can think of multiple instances of Mariah being shady publicly to multiple people, including Madonna. Mariah being shady is literally her brand.

Whitney was rude to Paula Abdul, Mariah was rude to JLo, JLo was rude to everyone from Gwyneth Paltrow to Cameron Diaz, Janet was rude to Madonna, Madonna was rude to Mariah. People not being able to handle a bit of spicy back and forth between divas without melting down is why pop culture is so boring and overly controlled now.

Two different situations.

Mariah hate train triggered similar situation to the likes of Britney. They were being ridiculed for NO REASON. It started a cascade of paps preying on celebrities' mental health situation.

Madonna's was different. She 'went too far' with the whole 'sex' project and was unapologetic about it and even got fumed.

Lol exactly, OP really thinks Mariah got Sex Book hate :rip: don't do drugs kids!!

Sandra and the people in here that are acting obtuse and downplaying how Mariah was treated are cut from same cloth

‼️

I mean I'm not diminishing the hardships Mariah went through at the beginning of the 2000s but like come on! Madonna had it way, way worse during the Erotica era, American Life era and after turning 50 just for being herself

Well... I don't want to compare who got more hate or whatever, but in 2001 the media more than once linked Mariah Carey to 9/11 and Osama Bin Laden. Even as a joke... which was pretty damn weird from a country that suffered the loss of over 2000 people and saw 2 landmark buildings destroyed and invoked Article 5 of NATO.
