At the time, that level of success for a woman was unprecedented.

The thread title specified "most number of hits" not "biggest". And "more remembered" is highly subjective, especially when comparing songs released decades apart. It's telling that some of you are bringing up tracks like Harleys in Hawaii and Abracadabra, neither of which cracked the Top 10 in the world's largest music market, while downplaying Janet's 15-year run of non-stop hits that moved millions of albums. I'd rather stick with facts: M + Janet, Rih + Bey, Mimi + Whitney >>> Gaga + Katy.

This era is already a big success for Madonna. The album debuted at #1 in most markets, marking her best first-week sales since 2012. In just three weeks, it's already halfway to Gold in the U.K., while Madame X took nearly three years to reach Silver. It also has been universally acclaimed by critics and could be a Grammy frontrunner in the Dance / Electronic categories. Streaming is still her weakest area, but 57 million listeners is impressive for a veteran act. She's in a unique league of her own, and her only real competition is herself. In that sense, CII is on track to outstream half of her studio albums by the end of the year.

Mayhem, easily . "Die With a Smile" might as well be the standalone single it was always meant to be, or tacked onto Bruno's 'The Romantic' and nothing would have changed. Renaissance and CONFESSIONS II are front-to-back masterpieces and essential to each artist's canon.
