I'm not defending Irene but I'm pointing out the contrast after their controversies. The bully was easily forgiven while you have Irene is still being brought up   :foxaylove3:

the way irene's career bombed after the scandal though while that man is still here so point kinda proven :deadbanana2:

but this also helps proving another point. boy groups like stray kids may have a huge fanbase, but that's it. they're completely unknown outside of it and have close to no impact on the culture while girl groups like aespa or red velvet are not only known by the gp domestically but are also more widely known by kpop stans in general, since they tend to not have a big fanbase. it's usually kpop stans / the gp as a whole streaming them. so while one boygroup scancal rarely leaves the fanbase circle, one girl group scandal is always brought to light since they have a wider audience :deadbanana:

"downplaying what Irene did" as if it was more than having a mean attitude. Every user in this thread including both me and you would be cancelled and unemployable if that was the standard. :bibliahh:

SKZ are irrelevant to the Korean GP while Irene's career was heavily centered around the Korean GP. Also Hyunjin did lose whatever favor he had with the GP when the scandal happened. He was constantly featured in collab stages and had an MC gig.

"most streams are from SEA" :matty:

All western kpop fans need to take a gigantic step back and question why they're willing to support these frivolous "scandals" that would not be damaging in the context of their own actions and values.

There's a difference between being a literal bully and being kinda rude to somebody when you have a bad day. One of these things would be damaging in any context, the other is regular human behavior.

The bizarre thing about Irene's scandal is literally everyone has had a bad day where they've been rude to someone (especially if someone messed up something and we've seen just how bad SM coordis can be with outfits/hair).

That should absolutely have not been a career ending scandal :rip:

Sorry but y'all are lying. Straight up.

Irene yelled at her stylist for 20 minutes straight. Not just a word or 2 for a mistake. What she did is workplace bullying. Y'all need to hold her to the same if not a higher standard for bullying her subordinates as a fully developed adult as you do for hyunjin for bullying kids in middle school.

It looks like BBC contract is invalid and ended

Show me where she "yelled" for "20 minutes straight" the statement from the stylist said neither of those things. It said she had a reputation for being rude and ended up being rude. What Irene did was bad but if you don't see how bullying a child is worse than mistreating a grown adult then you're being obtuse.

She didn't yelled, she badmouthed her for 20 minutes straight and there was a recording that the stylist had and wanted to publish but received a threats of SM to being sued. Let's not forget that a Chinese Stylist that worked with Red Velvet at the time also tagged a Red Velvet song said this:

Seeing this trend, I was not at all surprised. Irene is indeed beautiful, but she's very rude. (If I spoke on it, it would go over 1000 characters) Whoever has worked with her, will know. I think that locally, only I've worked with her. Her face is wasted on her. I just want to say that it's true. Given that they are a foreign group, I only worked with her for a day. But the Korean staff that has to work with her every day, they have it the worst. They all shiver in fear. She completely doesn't see anyone but herself.

Several stylists were coming forward until SM did what they do best, calling all the past stylists who worked with Red Velvet and making them have nice words about Irene.

It's the same thing that JYP did for Hyunjin, using several good encounters and the fans to shield and diminish the victims.

Now, unlike several people, Irene did apologize and put the work not only on her behavior but also on her skills because the Irene that returned was stronger and better as an idol.

So in less words, my post was factual. :fan:
