Purpose was a huge moment is 2015 but After Hours stands the test of time so I think the latter

I think purpose takes this one.  It was massive in 2015-2016.

OT: Purpose spun three back-to-back #1 singles, while After Hours had two. I'd say Purpose because After Hours' sales are largely from its singles.

Both huge eras and After Hours had BL, but I feel like Purpose was more consistent overall. The What Do You Mean?, Sorry, Love Yourself run was kinda crazy. All massive global hits.

Yet Bieber always had more of a celebrity status so Purpose does feel bigger.

Purpose had bigger single success while AH was more acclaimed and had the bigger tour.

After Hours was the better and more acclaimed album, but I think Purpose was bigger.

I was gonna say After Hours...but when you consider streaming, digital and pure sales, Purpose is bigger. I also feel like it was more global. Its 3 hit singles were also bigger than After Hours 3 biggest hit singles.

Purpose had the bigger peak, but After Hours in the long run was bigger because of Blinding Lights/Save having great longevity. 

 

Purpose singles lowkey became forgotten quickly and the album itself didn't ever have good recurrent streaming overall.

After Hours

Purpose had three #1s in an era when it was getting harder and harder to do that… serving 1989-level era success. I think Purpose was slightly bigger overall

 

but I obviously can't deny the impact of After Hours too!

After Hours, obviously. It had three singles hit #1 in three separate years, the second album to do so after Rhythm Nation.

Even if you wanna talk about "musical impact", we know that After Hours was one of the albums that brought synth pop/disco back, but Purpose also brought dancehall and tropical house to pop that was replicated for more than 3 years.

Purpose was huge no doubt. Literally Justin Bieber kept getting hit after hit but  the songs have aged SOOOO poorly. 
 

After Hours is def in a league of its own tho tbh. Artistically it was like a huge reinvention imo of The Weeknd and the aesthetic even in itself is so unique and synonymous with The Weeknd. And then Blinding Lights alone washes all of Justin's biggest songs off Purpose lmaooo!!! 
 

That's like comparing I Will Always Love You to Work by Rihanna. Yeah "Work" was a ginormous song for the time but Blinding Lights will just be KNOWN as THAT song of the new generation. 
 

So yeah, def After Hours lmao!
