Royals was released commercial in June 2013, however "The Love Club" EP was already on SoundCloud in 2012 with Royals on it.

 

Lorde asked Max Martin what he thought of Royals before it was released, and Max told her something along the lines that the song should be reworked, but Lorde refused to rework the song. Did you not expect the producers of Prism to not be aware of what was going on in the underground music scene?

 

So it was apparent that atleast Max(who produced PRISM) was already aware of Royals. I would assume Dr. Luke and all the others knew about Royals then as well.

Tove Lo literally did exactly what Katy was attempting to do on this album better with her Heat EP and her SG Lewis songs on her last album.
 

I'm sure SG Lewis would have jumped at the chance to use a star as big as Katy as a muse for a whole project.

was just about to say that Has A Heart does sound like a classic funky Katy Perry (bonus) track

The bonus tracks so far, HAS A HEART and NO TEARS FOR NEW YEARS, sound like songs that could have made the cut on an acoustic album. Idk just my take

Yes, the album is bad but NIRVANA is amazing! 

That's the song I'm keeping! 

"Wonder" is a highlight and the closest to a classic Katy song (minus the cringe intro/outro).

How r u gonna make those really cool verses in artificial and have the chorus be THAT awful
