crush,lifetimes, all the love and nirvana i'm keeping the rest i dont give a damn ... dr luke was a choice... but the production is great just the beats and melodies are not that interesting or forward pushing.She played it too safe and did not deeper in the dance genre , the producers or Rush by troye and padam padam and robyn's dancing on my own would have been a great addition.. to broaden the vision and appeal.

So it was apparent that atleast Max(who produced PRISM) was already aware of Royals. I would assume Dr. Luke and all the others knew about Royals then as well.

Royals went top 20 on august 31 and dark horse was released two weeks after, they would be able to make a song in 2 weeks but they had no idea if lorde sound would bring a new trend or she would be another gotye, so why rip it?

 

Also, can you post the link to where lorde talked about this?

I find it hard to imagine how a unknown singer from new zealand would be able to reach out the biggest pop producer of that time on sweden, so i wanna read more, seems interesting

The first 3 songs on this album are so bad, like the worst songs of her career. It genuinely feels like someone in her team was sabotaging her  

 

The rest of the album isn't even *that* bad, just kinda flat. But those first few songs...

This is a genuine, actual hate train

 

Call me delusional, stupid, crazy, insane or whatever you want, but this is a pretty incredible dance-pop record!!! Yes, "WOMAN'S WORLD" is not the greatest but it still grooves. The clear highlights of this album are "GORGEOUS" featuring Kim Petras, "NIRVANA", "ARTIFICIAL" featuring JID, and "WONDER". I honestly think "ARTIFICIAL" might be my favorite song she has ever done, I was FLOORED the first time I heard it. If she performs it live tonight, I am going to lose my f*cking mind!!

 

The tracks flow seamlessly into one another, there's reference/Easter eggs to Katy Perry's other songs lyrically, and this feels like a fully conceptualized/realized record. Does that mean it is a concept album? No. Also, her vocals have never sounded better or better produced. Yes, I do not like Dr. Luke but I'm not going to deny the fact that he and his collaborators did a damn solid job her. This honestly might be her strongest record to-date.

HAs a heart is not bad. It gives that 2015 pop with minimal electronic instrumentation.  It is very much a sing-along song for the road trips.  It would be great for the acoustic/smile aspects of her tours. 

 

No Tears For New Years, is definitely a continuation of Wonder to Has A Heart to NTFNYs. It gives Coldplay.
