Not bad. I think that, overall, I like it better than Witness and Smile. The concept is great and it's quite cohesive too. WW and GG are simply not it although they don't sound out of place in the album. I've grown tired of WW and she's made me hate it because why choose it over IHHM as the lead single?

FINALLY ANOTHER ONE THINKiNG THE SAME

Used to be a Gimme Gimme stan but I admit it was the Nirvana stans with the superior taste lmao. She should defer to them and Flynn for guidance on future singles 

I've despised most of the music she's released after One of the Boys but I gave this new album a listen last night.

 

There were three to four fairly good songs, to my surprise. 

 

- All The Love 

- Artificial (ft. JID) 

- Lifetimes 

- Nirvana 

 

All The Love:

This would have been a good direction to take the album.

All The Love is the only song where all parts of the song were enjoyable.

It's is a sound she does quite well. It has a nice melody.

 

8 sur 10.

 

Artificial:

I actually quite liked this one. 

It has a darker vibe and my favourite part of the song is actually JID's verse.

This would have been another good route to take the album.

I can't decide if this is as good as or better than All The Love.

 

8 sur 10.

 

Lifetimes:

The 'best' of the singles.

Fairly catchy, but very generic and repetitive lyrics.

Nothing new or noteworthy.

Good sl*t beat.

The refrain and the chorus are the best parts of the song.

 

6,5 sur 10.

 

Nirvana:

Painfully generic but some of it is catchy, notably the chorus.

The verses aren't great and the "Ah ooh" in the pre-chorus is off-putting. The weakest of the four. 

 

5,5 sur 10.

 

Rest of the album:

Just noise and fodder.

 

Overall, 143 is about the same level as Smile, so slightly better than Witness.

   1. She's always had tracks not fit the overall "theme"
2.  Maybe she wants to end on a positive note. It's not explicitly about cheating. Maybe she has hope...
3. The whole album is about love. Maybe this (and artificial) show that love is not perfect and you have to work through things.

I just don't understand what happened? she has an incredible voice, she's looking incredible rn, the art direction is incredible but the music is DOA. It made me go back and listen to smile and that is so much more interesting her adlibs and the explosive final chorus' are present on every track, the lyrics are so much more detailed and meaningfull. This is almost so bland and repetive it's hard to get through the songs and they aren't long songs I notice it alot more with the emptier trap songs but it's there in lifetimes and nirvana too. The production isn't produced enough to support all that empty space and rhyming crush with rush level lyricism. I was hoping she would squash the haters with this as they've been very annoying. I can't see me going back to this other than for I'm his he's mine and all the love (which I feel I'm already getting tired of after a couple of plays). I hope they don't use it as an excuse to change her creative team tho, the artwork is MAJOR.
