The album really gets better with each play especially the anthology

 

People are blinded by fatigue and over saturation of her brand

 

I think that if we cut some of the extra stuff and released in a less saturated time it would be actually celebrated

I'm keeping Fortnight, TTPD, Down Bad, Guilty as Sin?, I Can Do It With A Broken Heart, and The Alchemy. 

Tracks 3, and 12, and 17 are OK.

The rest can go. 

On the topic of Will it be Appreciated With Time? I will say that mmmmmm it reads like a book.

Yes for sure. On first listen I wasn't so sure, now I cannot play it enough. It has a very Carolina vibe and I love that song.

For sure, too many songs to digest all at once. As days go by, I like more things about the tracks or liking more tracks I wasn't liking at first so yeah.

The Anthology is battling with Folklore and Evermore.

 

The Tortured Poets Department is battling with Midnights.

 

Her catalogue is too vast and appealing. GP would pick one album (Red or 1989) and move on.

Yes. It gets better every time I play it again 

it'll be like Reputation. her fans will grow to like it after repeated listens.

 

but outside of that no one will return to it as a remarkable point in Taylor's career or discography. not now, and certainly not in 5-10 years.

Besides Clara Bow, (a unique moment of self reflecting & You're On Your Own Kid's less attractive sibling)

 

I can find a Taylor Swift song with a similar theme that's a better song than anything on TTPD from anywhere else in her catalogue.

 

so I'm gonna say no. Worst Swift album by far. Yes, worse than Lover too, which has its moments of greatness. It doesn't do anything unique that another TS album hasn't.

Yes, ofc. In 5 years people will be swearing they always knew it was a masterpiece. 

I wouldn't be surprised if it's looked back on in a similar light that RED is. It too was a divisive album upon release and is sonically all over the place. It's now seen as her quintessential album and a modern classic. I think TPPD is a unique piece that will stand up in its own right in her discography. With it, she buried the shiny rainbow-coloured ten eras of the first act of her career. I think this album is an important stepping stone to the next chapter.

 

I'm 90% sure history will repeat itself and she'll take on the criticism this album has received and will make the next album a shorter, sonically-cohesive project with more abstract, less personal writing similar to 1989. It will likely be appreciated at the time but critics will then switch and long for her to return to the diaristic revelation style writing that is heavy on TTPD.

It's a possibility, since releasing 31 songs altogether is pretty tough. People are kinda exhausted of her.

This and reputation are her best albums so I'd hope so. I'm loving it now. I feel it's a dark pop album with a country core. I love it.

Maybe for some die hard country fans who didn't like to see any genre bending, but it gave her some of her biggest hits, safe to say it's well respected among the GP

 

TTPD might be regarded like Lover, an album with some gems, but also many, many, many misses.

It's funny because I didn't like the album at all, but if Jack produced the songs written for The Anthology, the album would be way better imo. Her best lyrics off this album era on The Anthology, but the production of all tracks there sounds the same. Meanwhile, the standard version has some of the worst lyrics of her career, but the production is pretty decent.

No, this will be Taylor's first album to not spend 3 years in the billboard 200.  ATRL won.

she releases 30songs because of the vinyl printing. she has to send the work for print at least 6months before the release.

at this point the work is not complete, hence the second album release

It's way too long. There's some songs I will definitely cut and don't mind not listening to again. Right now I have 17 tracks I put on a playlist between TTPD and Anthology that I keep coming back to and I love it this way without the fillers.

I love it.

 

It reminds me so much of her Speak Now songwriting.  

 

It's so much better than Midnights.
