30 years time when you need to be 48+ to buy cigarettes :deadbanana4:

It's funny that someone's going to have to keep track of what the latest age limit is :toofunny2:

:clap3:

It means that people born in or after 2009 will never be able to legally buy cigarettes, leading to an effective ban.

Wild method of implementation though. :dies:

I wonder how a banning method like this would hypothetically hold up in the US constitutionally. Typically, age discrimination is perfectly constitutional as age is not a suspect class. But this type of age discrimination is a bit different than typical age discrimination as instead of banning below a certain age… it bans completely after a certain birth year.

We had this same policy here in NZ

Until the new government got in, promised tax cuts (which are f all anyway) and repealed this to balance the books :rip:

Smoking weed >>>>>>>>> the UK CRAZY DRINKIN HABITS!!!

Clickbait title aside, what an excellent decision

Young people are smoking less anyways so it won't affect them so much

MTE. And the weed smell is even worse. Can these people just do edibles thanks.

People sending their nans to get some cigarettes in the future :dies:

This will simply drive individuals towards buying vapes or resorting to the illegal sale of cigarettes :biblio:

The U.S. already had one of the most successful any-smoking campaigns in the world.

I'm... not sure I agree with this. It's a good idea in theory as absolutely smoking is bad for one's health (I've never been a smoker) but it's also someone's prerogative to do so in my view. I also don't know if it will be effective and as people have said - it'll just inflate the black market.
