Have never met a single person -- online or offline -- who is familiar with this album but it's in my top 5 and I consider it some of the greatest electronic music ever.

True, true. I think not that many people stan that MNEK album but the rest are (mostly) well liked.

i love it. used to be obsessed with toi et moi and garde le pour toi :WAP:

This album is better than some artists’ entire career output but I don’t think I’ve ever encountered a single person who has even heard it before. I’m alone on quality island I fear

PSA to anyone: Definitely check out Look Away, Blue Film, #88, and Permutations if you’re going to hear any songs from this

I found it in a bargain bin of a record shop when I was in high school. My bestie and I originally started listening to it as a joke but then it hit and I actually fell in love and found her earlier album at another used CD shop lol.

Leah is basically like if Alanis Morisette and Tori Amos had a child.

and then her debut (equally good, if not better lol)

Apparently people hate 20 Y.O. by Janet and E=MC2 by Mariah :weeps:

But for a really obscure album:

K-pop girl group Brown Eyed Girls' debut album in 2006. Before becoming an "art pop" group known for their vocals and showcasing sexuality in K-pop, they started off as a faceless group with a R&B/neo-soul sound. While they did become much more popular after switching image and sound/showcasing themselves in their music videos... I truly loved their first album when it initially came out and wished they maintained this sound a bit more.

Sis was never going to top the success of crossover smash hit "I Hope You Dance" but the label nor radio gave this album a chance. I feel it is so unique especially for its time with elements of jazz and several songs exceeding 5 minutes in length. The arrangements are beautiful and her vocal delivery is crisp.

This album kind of flopped upon release and I've never seen much conversation about it, but I think it's absolutely brilliant and the fact that it preceded albums like 1989 and Emotion in terms of its synth-pop sound without ever generating the same buzz online as either is truly mind-boggling to me.
