The acclaimed Batman movie is often known as one of the great superhero films of all-time and also considered one of the best movies of this century. The acclaim received was due to its mature theme, cinematography and acting performances, especially the outstanding Joker, protrayed by Heath Ledger.

 

 

While it is a well-known excellent praised project in the film community, what does ATRL think of it?

 

I personally believe its release represented one of the biggest cultural impacts we've had this century. I still get goosebumps every time I watch this masterpiece, absolutely brilliant.

Amazing movie

Incredible film; I personally prefer Batman Begins, but it's incredibly well made and definitely had an impact on a lot that has followed. Heath as The Joker is still the best (live action) portrayal.

 

You truly HAD to be there when this was out in theaters.

Followed Casino Royale's trend of taking colorful, campy things from the mid-20th century and making them deadly serious, completely draining them of fun and color, infusing them with straight white male dread, everything a steely shade of blue or grey.

Hate it because it made Nolan a thing
It's his second best movie tho 

Good movie, but overrated imo. It's 3rd highest rated film on imdb and 26th on Letterboxd lol, I don't think it deserves that.

a masterpiece through and through 

The best superhero film from the 21st century.  (I have not seen ones from the prior century) 

A classic

A masterpiece. It's just so amazing. 

It's part of my favorite trilogy tbh. I love Batman Begins just as much. 

It’s great, and it really changed the game for superhero films! It truly was a cultural reset. I recently rewatched it, and while I think The Batman is a better Batman film as a whole, it’s undeniable how much it changed the game. Heath Legder was phenomenal in it, you can NOT mention him when discussing what made this film work so well. It’s well written and it has so many high stakes moments in it that keep you glued to the screen.

I remember how massive this was - everyone rushed to theatres to watch it

 

I'm not a movie person but watching this in theatres was a moment - amazing film, RIP Heath 

Iconic, amazing, groundbreaking. Batman truly established himself as THAT dude after this movie 

The best superhero movie of all time.

It's better than any Nolan film we've had in the 15 years since*
