RV is a decently strong brand though, she isn't exactly suffering. They could go on a tour if SM pushed it. Though, she was never very talented. Like she can't sing very well, her "raps" are more endearing than good. Pop music and especially kpop is fully image based so I can see why brands wouldn't necessarily want to be associated with her, especially with all of the new acts that have become more popular (ex: aespa being plastered all over korea).

I think it's her/SM's choice. It's best to have RV sort of play out so she doesn't really stand out tooo much then slowly start to reappear places after most people don't care anymore.

 

If she immediately tried to go back to her prior glory she'd be dragged to hell and back. She's appropriately not trying to be greedy so she doesn't look bad

Well SM tried to clean her image with that Work& Holiday reality show but got dragged more in SK However since RV is still doing comebacks here and there I’m not too worried about the big sis financially.

don’t do to much on Irene, she was the IT girl of Gen 3, no one can be an it girl forever… that dumb scandal, ageism and Gen 4 idols becoming popular obviously she’s not gonna be at the same position but don’t act like she’s flopping with no job.

It recovered within a year sis, Irene was a top 3 searched idol in 2021 (1 year after the scandal happened) across the main demographics on Naver.

 

Like others have said, it's a conscious decision that she's taken a backseat. I think SM handled it quite well, because other idols have been kicked out of their groups for similar scandals, whereas Irene remains and her public profile isn't that damaged.

She is. Wendy have her radio show + GOT, Yeri is doing some photoshoots, attending events, and some acting. Seulgi had her solo +GOT, Joy acted in a drama in jtbc and Netflix  (she flopped) and have a program on tv.

Ageism is real in Kpop, but her peers like Nana, Marcella, Seolhyun, Suzy, Krystal etc were all able to transition in the acting world except her. Not 1 drama even when she was the It girl ??? It’s not like kbs drama are hard to get

It’s been 2 years already. Like she was punished enough. When RV is going to be over, what will she do ?

This is so true. I have a feeling that she’ll be back either later this year or early next year. SM always waits out huge drama like this and they’re smart to do it.

Birthday is their best-selling physical after 8 years of releasing. Y’all have got to let go of the idea that an artist flopping on domestic digitals means they’re over.
 

For example, the digitals on “TOMBOY” were massive but because the album only sold 250k-ish, there was no profit. But “Nxde” has sold over 3x as many albums and actually made a profit despite only 200M digital points so far.

Yeah he is not a good vocalist, deep vocals are great if you can play with them like Jaehyun from 127.
