I've noticed the fake stanning too. It seems like IVE has been dropped in favor of NJ by a certain collective this thread. I've noticed a sudden increase in NJ stans and increase drags against IVE, whereas before, things like their lack of talent/constant lipsync seemed to be constantly and conveniently ignored.

I have a question for the token stans:

Why do y'all feel like you have to hop on every new group that's successful and ditch the previous group just because they are starting to get competition or underperforming a little bit?  Why are y'all like this, and what do y'all get out of it? Is it because of the feeling of seeing other people succeed, and be a part of that feeling? And why do you fell the need to **** on the previous group you used to stan right after ditching them for the newer gg?

Suprised yall didn't get that corny ass "times up" image the way i did lol. But yeah yall are spilling. Newjeans music is so inoffensive that im always baffled at the overactive chaos around it here, i think we all like their music but they could add a little bit more spice.

They had Next Level with their concept. The main factor in selling music digitally is resonating with the public. It's not the concept its the song.

 

Girls was panned from almost everyone before it even had any chart positions to drag. Out of 4 promotions, Girls is the only one that was really universally panned and it underperformed. 

 

One bad song/underformance isn't some end all be all of a career. Next Level has more digital points than LSRF's entire career but you think they're bigger than aespa?  

not overall of course cause they're not even a year old yet but they're a bigger name in the current game than aespa, they focused too much in the west and underperformed in kr compared to them they seem forgotten

 

concept does in fact determine if a song is going to be a hit or not just look at their songs lyrics they're all about their metaverse now compare it with ives and newjeans

 

anyway i really think they're gonna deliver good music and visuals but it's just funny to me that y'all think theyll collect more hits than ive nwjns and ssera

And on the subject of newjeans token staners, it was just insane whiplash to actually listen to the song and watch the mv, expecting it to wow me as they do and being WILDLY underwhelmed. Like im sorry this base def overreacts to everything newjeans just cause they're smashing. I think if yall just calmed down on calling everything those girls do as the next magnum opus of kpop it wouldnt be that big of a deal. The roaring overdramatic reaction did not match how subpar the song was.

I completely disagree and I definitely was not on the NewJeans train for their first mini release. The video (and ditto's) is kinda genius and to me, OMG is sonically better and catchier than Ditto - but Ditto's videos both side A and B are high art ngl. What a poetic way to call k-pop stans losers in such an endearing way.

 

Despite their age, so far they come off as effortlessly cool which was something I didn't think at all during Attentions hype (literally just looked like 12 year olds being forced to work) Maybe they're being a little overhyped because what they are doing is pretty restrained in a post-Twice and Blackpink industry where kpop videos were just getting more shiny and expensive and with more elaborate sets.

 

Personally, I find IVE more enjoyable to listen to but I'm an old timer who likes the glitz and glam, but I completely understand why NewJeans is taking the industry by storm. If I were to show my middle schooler nieces Ive and NewJeans i'm pretty confident they'd say they like NewJeans more.

 

newjeans concept does the heavy lifting tbh, that’s why lots of people “go crazy” over them

 

i enjoyed their releases so far and i think the recent release is cute but even though i’m not a stan i can def see their appeal

Who even said that? Those groups are literally catering their sound for mass GP appeal while SM is doing the complete opposite with aespa. Most aespa stans at this point just want listenable music since most were disappointed with Girls + the mini as a whole last year.

 

But the continuing to discount their success and act like one underperforming single means they're has beens is literal worms for brains. Illusion did just as well as Sneakers and people called that a smash because it went Top 5

 

Also I'm confused as to why you're lumping LSRF with IVE and NJ. They're not in the same league.

obv everyone has different reasons, but newjeans gets musical inspiration from a lot of reference points I ador(e) which makes them easy for me to stan

OT: The sadder thing is how the collective in this thread abandoned STAYC completely as soon as they started flopping. It's been crickets for them since Stereotype. So Bad and Like This still bop though. They deserved better.

lol i don't think they're over i even feel like they might get a big hit to begin with and mayhaps their sales will double the size but i dont see them overtaking ive and newjeans in popularity especially since kr is going crazy over nj's youthfulness they have a grown image

I don't think all of the NewJennies stanning is "token stanning" because they genuinely feel "fresh" compared to other GGs even if I'm not a huge stan so far, but some of it is pretty obvious. The sudden switch on IVE too here when they haven't even release a new song is hilarious. I can see the following happening in the future

 

NewJennies release an "underwhelming" song -> it "underperforms" -> suddenly the masks start falling -> moving on to the next victim

STAYC’s album sales keep growing and they are doing well for a group who are outside of big 4. who cares if a bunch of gays in a random pop forum “dropped” them after stereotype (even though they got a bigger hit with run2u after that so i’m not sure how this logic works)

 

they released one of the best albums of last year and stomped on several big companies quality wise

I don't have anything to say to ur entire comment but this part i personally have thoughts on, the girls in general are not giving me good performances. It just dawned on me that i haven't watched a full performance of theirs, the choreos outside of hype boy are so weird that i just can't get into it, they bounce way to much. Legit alot of their choreos seem copypasted and they have so many moments where its just empty space and they act out really out of nowhere joy, like idk what to do with that. The fake sadness of hurt performances made me cackle. And i agree the girl with the cat eyes especially looked like she'd be anywhere but there performing

I’m telling in few years aespa will have the best longevity even if they will not reach IVE or Nj peak because at least they have a mature image.  Once NJ and IVE get old it’s over.

They may be behind but they’re doing well Antifragile 11 weeks in the top 10, fearless still stable, they’re more popular in japan and internationally. They’re quite underestimated.
