It's been over a year since Namie Amuro took her music off streaming
What puzzles me the most about the whole thing is that she started her own label in 2013, and genic in 2015 was supposed to be her foray into the Western market with Zedd, Sophie & David Guetta features. It looked like she was aiming to expand her career, then she just retired in 2017?? I get that Feel and genic were on a downward trend commercially, and it's wise to quit when you are ahead, but that turn of events was so drastic I can't wrap my head around how she decided to end her career after such overt ambitions

Kylie Minogue - "Lights Camera Action"
Am I the only one who thinks the beat drop is very "Blackpink in your area"?

Kylie Minogue - "Padam Padam"
Can her team promote Santa Baby this Christmas? I feel like with a proper video + promos + physical sales it has a good chance to become another Top 10 hit for her

Selena, Miley, Demi & Ariana - Who will have the biggest downfall?
At least the Hulu show is a hit and is getting Selena Emmy nominations. For all we know, Wicked could be a flop (Not saying it will, but a big role in a film doesn't mean a film career). Other than OMITB, Selena is also shooting a Spanish-language film with a Palm d'Or director, she's getting serious prestigious projects.

Selena, Miley, Demi & Ariana - Who will have the biggest downfall?
If we factor into Selena's acting career, she will still be getting consistent and high profile film & TV work even after her and (her peers') pop stardoms peer out.

Namedropping Michelle Pfeiffer = Classics, why?
Four songs namedropping Michelle Pfeiffer have gone on to become one of the biggest hits of all time, an indie crossover, a critical favorite, & TikTok viral hit. Why Michelle Pfeiffer = success?

Selena's social media engagement through the roof. Time to announce new era?
by longevity you mean not yet gold? Also, you conveniently forget Younger Now. Is it that big of a flop that even Miley stans refuse it acknowledge it?

Selena's social media engagement through the roof. Time to announce new era?
Selena's last album hit #1, so was the album before that. When was the last time Miley had a #1 album?

MHJ in SM in 2015: hmmm, 90s r&b is gonna be popular in 2022, so I have these tracks planned just in case I'm gonna jump to this nugu group BTS's company. In the same time, even though I know perfectly well what's accessible, I'm not gonna do that for fx and RV.

I literally never said any of these. Also if NJ's songs are planned years ahead, then how come they are also the "most accessible and trendy image rn"? Queen MHJ can predict the future I guess. At least pick a narrative. Also if MHJ knows what's trendy and accessible, why didn't she do it for fx or RV? She was secretly sabotaging them at SM? It just doesn't make sense

Great! Hopefully one day they can write a hit! Especially the BGs.

If only it were that easy RV and f(x) would have blown up years ago when MHJ was still at SM. I genuinely don't understand you can treat artists like nothing but puppets then stan them at the same time but you do you. Keep praying the companies don't feed your favs trash I guess, because it's literally all there is to Kpop isn't it.

Why you keep telling me to "give it up" then keeps replying me, when I didn't even quote you? You are free to move on and talk about literally anything else I'm just expressing my personal opinion. Saying a song sounds dated is far from the harshest things this thread has said. People are literally calling all kinds of idols ugly or has-been, but I'm out of the line for saying a song is bad? Don't you think calling me deranged or delusional is much more insulting that calling RV's songs dated demos? Please stop.I already told you I'm happy for other idols who are writing and producing. I never belittled any of them or called them mediaplay.

This is fair. I just think NJ is making great music and I'm happy they have a hand writing the songs. Their sensibilities are clearly aligned with MHJ's, and maybe that's why they picked them, but it's obvious NJ genuinely likes their music and wants to contribute creatively. That's much better than just accepting old demo tracks that sounds dated, or breaking down crying because they don't want to sing about plant trees. I don't know how this is a controversial statement. If one day they are forced to do industry noise dubstep or whatever cringy trendy kpop sound is atm, I would unstan in a heartbeat but it looks like they have no intentions of doing that which is what I like and why I think they stand out. If everyone in this thread believes Kpop idols are that replaceable and void of any genuine personalities and agencies, I don't understand what's the point of staning anyone.

K-Pop Thread: 2023 Archive
My initial reply was literally pointing out the differences between the two groups? Then it became "if NJ has writing credits it must be mediaplay'? And then somehow this mediaplay is specifically applied to NJ because the other group's members are experienced 20 year olds full of life's wisdom?

What? Isn’t it the other way around? People were using RV to drag NJ? Like you are right I don’t listen to RV, so why would I bring them up if I barely know they exist unless it’s used to drag NJ?
-
K-Pop Thread: 2023 Archive
Lol I was talking about the difference between NJ and RV. You are right I genuinely dont listen BGs so I didn't even think of them when I said "other groups". Sorry for unintentionally triggering BG fans. My bad.

Great! Happy for them. Wish more idols would/could do this instead of just accepting what's given to them as it is. I hope when they get credited, they won't be laughed at for being just mediaplay.

K-Pop Thread: 2023 Archive
Doesn't this thread praise them for that all the time? They are what, a bunch of sophisticated 16 year olds?
-
K-Pop Thread: 2023 Archive
On B-sides sure. How many groups have credits on all their title tracks besides NJ though? BTS and that's it?
-
K-Pop Thread: 2023 Archive
That's not what I'm saying? I'm saying that have better materials and they can contribute to the material, which is what differentiates from other groups.

K-Pop Thread: 2023 Archive
More power to NJ then if they can collect massive royalties without lifting a finger. Hybe is a true charity.
-
K-Pop Thread: 2023 Archive
No? I'm saying NJ's songs are not passive hand-me-downs, they at least like them enough to write (some) lyrics for them. That's much better than just accept rejected demos from other groups.
