If your definition of taking another L is to lose in an ATRL poll, than yes.

 

In reality "Chromatica" performed ok/good, compared to "Renaisance". It did slightly better on Spotify, way better on YouTube while doing worse on Apple Music.

In reality Chromatica is going to be outsold by Renn on it's first week and considering that promo was minimal and it had no major collabs that's mighty impressive  .. It also might get a solo #1 hit which not every album has to their credit. And that's not even including the universal acclaim...

Gaga needed Bundles to “sell” in the lower end of Beyonces current projections and if you’re gonna say “way better on YouTube” then you should also include “Way worse on Apple Music” because Beyonce has 3 songs hit #1 there with 5 current in the top 10 and 9 in the top 15, while Gaga had nothing close to that on day 1

A comparison that displays genuine thought as opposed to baseless, ignorant trolling  Pretty much nailed it.

Honestly I love both albums for two very different reasons; but I also think they accomplish two different things as well. Overall Renn is a more enjoyable experience.

Personally, Chromatica makes up for it lack of sonic experimentation with consistently great melodies, crisp production, and some of Gaga's most vulnerable writing. As a fan, that's why I fell in love with it over the pandemic. Renaissance is great in basically the opposite way. 

Both albums are great for different reasons- I think Bey's project sounds more polished and "premium" - the production is so smooth and layered whereas Chromatica is a more barebones in terms of production- but I love the melodies and I never skip a song when playing it.

I think Chromatica is VERY underrated, and I will always defend it - it's honestly a really fun pop record that has some great bops, but I think if we're basing it on production and pushing music, Renaissance really soars. I love both.

These are two completely different albums. Yeah, there are a few house themes but overall they aren’t really that similar. Both Bey and Gaga put out great albums. I still need to do a second listen of Renaissance before I give my final verdict but I would rather repeat Chromatica. Again, both are great albums.

The problem with Renaissance is that ballroom hosting is not a pleasant listening experience. It's not good music. It's not even really meant to be good music. It's meant to accompany a live event. But as an album it's unlistenable. The production is very layered and textured and sophisticated but it's in service of bad songs.

 

Chromatica on the other hand has good songs supported by basic bland production (with the exception of Rain On Me and maybe Babylon).

I have always been a fan of Gaga's, and Chromatica is my favorite album of hers. I love the cohesiveness and the choices made. Its also been two years, and the songs still sound very fresh to me. I think the dance music covered by personal lyrics is a great contrast. I think Chromatica is a great exploration for her personal struggles. When Chromatica came out, I listened to it non-stop for about a month before deciding to give it a break - and not because I was getting to the songs, but because I just felt like I was too obsessed.

 

When it comes to Beyonce's music, she's never been an artist that I considered myself a fan of. I liked 4, I liked her self titled, and I enjoy a great portion of Sasha Fierce. 

 

However, this album is something else, and because of that - I have to go with Renaissance.

 

If this album is any hint of the direction her next two albums are going to be, then I am very excited. Before the album dropped, I was curious about it, but that was it. Since listening to it, I have consumed just about every reaction I could find on YouTube to see the experience other people are having with it. Everything about this album oozes quality and very careful consideration with maticulous thought and planning. She clearly took her time and it was clearly a passion project intended to be a celebration for those it seems to be attributed for and the culture that resonates within those communities.

 

There has never been a more cohesive album, to me, that both plays to the sonic choices with the amazing transitions, and with the overall message and tone the album sets. Its an experience. This album is the only mainstream album to make it to my favorites from 2022 on initial listen, and it shot so high. I suspect it might make it to the top with more.

Chromatica has many skips.

Ren just transitions well and executed to perfection, though one song was almost a filler

 

'All up in your mind' but she worked hard to clean it up, it aids the last three songs build up into a massive blast off into the andromeda galaxy.

Chromatica has way better transitions for the most part though? Chromatica I/Alice and Chromatica II/911 are more memorable than any of the Renaissance transitions tbh. They are both fun albums, but Ren has way too much filler tbh. Half the tracks could’ve been cut and it would’ve been a way better album.

Renaissance overall just comes off like a high budget, well produced mixtape, whereas Chromatica, although a bit less mature has so many bops and has less skips overall. 

Renaissance just doesn't have the presence Chromatica has. And, yes, I think Chromatica has the more masterful production.
