Frankly, I would much rather Gaga lose/be snubbed in Lead Actress category than to win in Supporting Actress. She is too early in her film career to be labeled as a supporting actress Oscar winner and it would be almost impossible for her to ever get a Lead Actress Oscar if she had an acting Oscar anyway.

kinda agree. Her being nominated for Best supporting and potentially winning will kinda block her from future wins in the much bigger and more desirable category especially since she is mostly a singer meaning they will probably only award her once in her career so in some ways her submitting for best actress and being nominated but not winning or even potentially not being nominated could actually increase her chances of winning in the future as she will build the whole "she's been snubbed" narrative that has helped MANY actresses win a oscar for lead even for a film that wasnt their best performance simply because they built enough of a "the oscars have snubbed this actress" narrative! so lets see what they do

For all we know it could be Warner asking them to cut down the film for shorter screentime. If they were asked that, they definitely would cut Gaga's not Phoenix's.

Gaga's at a stage in her career where she can still have hits but it isn't just gonna happen. She might get one with the next album and she might not. Her lead singles usually at least go platinum either way.

That's literally the case for every artist these days after their first era. 

I honestly wonder if they did some heavy reworking of the movie after filming and first cut focus groups… maybe it was too Harley heavy and they wanted to turn the attention back to Joker. Or maybe they even saw potential in doing a third movie focused solely on Harley and wanted to save some of the story for that. Who knows honestly, at this point it's all just delulu made up narratives anyway. It does seem like if what people are saying is true, Harley's story was heavily pared down for some reason than originally planned
