People complain about how her voice isn't soft anymore, but I love the grit and power she gives now. Her voice sounds so lived-in on songs like Digging My Grave, Look What I Found, HMH at the Oscars, even Enigma. I think the raw emotion she's album to convey is what connects with certain audiences.

 

I'd love a energetic album that pulls from blues, funk, and post-disco. Something upbeat and poppy that showcases her voice in the right light.

No matter how critically adored HMH was never beating Naatu Naatu just like nothing was beating Shallow in 2019.
 

Not being a zeitgeist moment like people were expecting on paper is not the same thing as being derided. It was a decent nostalgia dipped blockbuster end credits power ballad that didn’t excite all that much and had pressure to live up to one of the biggest movie soundtrack success stories of recent times — it would be like Celine releasing There You’ll Be after the mega success of MHWGO. One is fine, one is legendary, you can’t always catch lightning in a bottle and you can’t win Oscars all the time. We kinda take for granted how easily she was nominated.

 

But yeah we stan a performer, 100% she, the arrangement and her voice was giving that lived in, legendary flex
