Rain On Me came on the radio the other day and I could barely hear it compared to the other songs that played. It's production is so soft and compressed..

Her team would be silly to pass up on a (potentially) free Friday to release on the 10th. It's more of a given that by the 31st someone else will have dropped by then and would potentially be dominating the charts.

I never understood how this song didn't / doesn't receive UNIVERSAL ACCLAIM from the base, it's basically Studio 54 in audio form. The BONGOS. The DISCO STRINGS. The HOUSE PIANO. Nvm her powerhouse vocal performance that SCORCHES everything in its path. Oh Count Gagula you outdid yourself on this one.  
 

When the instrumental that was only in the first post-chorus is married to the actual 2nd chorus… one of the best sonic moments in her discography imo. It's absolutely BRILLIANT. I think people hate it cause they either want to be contrarian, or they're scared from the SHITMA circus in Vegas. Idk what it is, but Enigma is literally Gar at her best and it's time that's a more widely accepted opinion here. Thank you, Bloodpop (I guess?)

What leaves me feeling 'meh' about this song and a lot of the songs on Chromatica is Bloodpop's production. The breakdowns are an anti-climax and heavily compressed compared to other dance albums. Maybe Gaga herself likes softer production as she said in the Rolling Stone interview, and all her studio albums after her debut are a lot softer. But it doesn't make as much impact with the GP as shown by the album streams/sales

Chromatica as a whole barely made any impact with the GP bc Gar released her all-time worst single as its lead & she majorly abandoned its entire album campaign (sans ROM release week, which resulted in a #1 debut on the Hot 100 when they actually tried, mind you). 
 

I completely disagree with you on its production & objectively don't know how you could possibly view this song as meh. Do you have good speakers? Headphones? Enigma has one of the strongest, grooviest, and most unique bass lines in Gar's entire discography. Nvm the fact that Enigma was obviously a nod to analogue 70s disco, with house touches. There was absolutely no room for loud, messy dubstep'd productions on Chrome no matter how bad Liddos yearned (and still yearn) for it bc dance music didn't sound like that during the eras Gar was referencing. Go listen to ARTPOP for that

Enigma is Top 2 on Chromatica and a career highlight for sure. This, Replay, Babylon and Sour Candy are the best songs on that album and they truly elevate it. I used to love Rain On Me as well but it feels kinda... eh lately.

I've been an 1000 Doves truther for a while now, thank you very much 

I wouldn't say it's the strongest track on Chromatica at all, but for an album that is based on a very particular time period in 90s dance music, it definitely hits the spot. Someday you all will see the light!

How are you gonna tug on 1000 Smashes' wig like that without also mentioning Stupid Toad 

 

From my observations, SL, FW, SFA, FT, & PD (to an extent) are the most panned songs on Chrome by the base. 

Free Woman is so close to being a top-tier Gar song, Bloodpop just really screwed the pooch with the production.

 

 

'This is my dancefloor I fought for' is still one of my fave lyrics on the album though
