Not necessarily. She is doing this with zero promotion, not even the lead single that debuted 6 weeks ago has a video. And the rollout was non existent (I mean the rollout being awful even appears in the Complex's preliminary review) so the huge hype just deflated. If she is pulling 300K or 315k with no promo, no vinyls in store, no cassettes, no video, I don't think 400K was really delusional to expect after the tweet Yvette retweeted. Even her own label predicted 200K more (which was just dumb). 

 

But all in all the numbers are ok. I want it do more than 4.

I mean Adele took a hit, Drake

completely collapsed in sales, anyone expecting her to do similar numbers as before was delusional, especially when the launch is not similar. If she did a visual on Netflix, it would’ve been massive.

These numbers are even more than i expected tbh. Lemonade was 6 years ago when this industry was so different and even then it did good first week but it was not wow. 

 

Also Adele who used to sell 1m pure copies first week compared to Bey's 350-500K only sold half of that this year so when you do the match, it makes sense. Nobody is selling like before but her streaming numbers are projected to be over 100M now which IS massive for her.  25 years into her career, this is huge.

 

 Her peer Alicia Keys recentled released a project and it barely cracked 10K and nobody talked about it.

Adele dropped all the way to 839K in 2021 after doing 3.38M in 2015, Drake dropped to 613K (CLB) in 2021 after doing 1M (Views) in 2016, and Taylor dropped to 846K (Folklore) after doing 1.2M in 2017 (Reputation). And all of those artists have historically had better debuts than Bey and have been much larger on streaming than she has. 

I know that, I completely agree with you. She's also doing good. Sales took a huge hit when BB banished bundles and here she is doing way more than hit girls like Ariana and Billie and on par with Olivia, a streaming giant. Artists who literally were kids or not even born when she debuted. 

I'm just saying that the people that predicted 400K at the beginning of the era are not that delusional since she's doing only 100K less than that with zero effort. 

If there are two more albums recorded waiting to be released, i REALLY hope she releases them as surprise drops and includes a Netflix project for one of them. If she doesn't want to promote by going on tv talk shows or perform, she should at least offer something extra to connect with the fans during release and a Netflix drop would do it. If not her next release wont do good numbers.

I'm very curious to see the rollout for the next two acts.

Anyway I couldn’t imagine the disaster if she would have surprised drop Ren. That would have been horrific without pure sales to cover it. I still think rollouts should be kept to a 3 week maximum after announcement. Renaissance to me just feels like a streaming redemption era to gain footing. I don’t expect Act II to open with bigger numbers. Much worse actually, but these projects can have longevity depending on if she leaves the house.

Yeah, I am not buying a song over and over to try to move the needle when she's clearly fine with whatever happens, happens.

Do these predictions give any credit to Beyoncé fans streaming from Tidal more than other fan bases? Or has that exclusivity gone out the window now that her music is available elsewhere upon release?

 

I’ve never been a Tidal girl but it always seemed like Hive had subscriptions because you just don’t know what she’s gonna gatekeep next.
