I know this award is a joke but the point is, she has cemented herself in history with the likes of Whitney and Lauryn. And on top of that she won an award for a genre that completely ridiculed and exiled her. She sought to release an album that transcended the concept of genres and to rekindle black history that has often been overlooked/buried. She is truly a once in a lifetime artist I can't handle the history she continues to make. That is what you call a CAREER.

I still believe Renny should be her rightful AOTY but CC is still amazing her quality never lulls and I'm just glad that she managed to check this off her bucket list. The grind never stops

I like CC as her AOTY given the motivation for even creating it in the first place. Perhaps more than any of her AOTY nominations, it's the one where the explicit purpose seems to be to defy the/an industry's limitations. The closest that comes to that is BEYONCÉ, but it's not quite as defiant as it is exploratory/experimental.

truly!

the fact that she is going into her 28th year of her career and still artistically peaking and not only that, but her work is still culturally and socially appreciated and important...it is really something we as fans should take stock of. not everyone has that, not even some of the most successful, talented legends. that double combo of increased quality AND relevance is kinda unparalleled, I think.

I'm pissed. That weirdo Kai Cenat met Beyonce. He has it all on film look at his TikTok. He somehow couldn't get to Taylor due to her security telling him no. But Julius let Kai approach the table Jay immediately knew him and gave him his phone number. Beyoncé had no idea who he was but shook his hand and said he has beautiful energy. WTF

She's just being polite.

Jay only gonna talk to this man if he needs to use him to make money.

Bey/Jay will likely always show love to young black successful artists in all mediums, they know the bigger picture is important.

So now that Beyoncé has won the biggest award in Country music, do you guys think she should leave the genre abruptly, or release some additional songs during the tour?

This would never happen in a million years, but ideally I want a two-disc, full-length CC deluxe edition CD with all the transitions and the extended versions of songs that fit on that first CD release that was missing a few songs. (Alligator Tears would be the final first disc song.)

She has a few records that didn't make it: the third Shaboozey song that didn't make the album (place it somewhere on the 2nd half), a storytelling country ballad of some sort (1st half near "Protector"), one of the five outtakes with Kacey Musgraves (uptempo - 2nd half), and pick another Kacey Musgraves song but put Mickey Guyton on there instead (1st half)?

This fits on the first half too:

I personally think ST, Lemonade and Renaissance all deserve the win more than CC, actually even 4 but oh well

I'm surprised she's allowed to look at that mess.

4?

don't get me wrong, it's a great album...but deserving AOTY MORE THAN COWBOY CARTER? The bookend-ed combination of AMERIICAN REQUIEM and AMEN alone is a greater display of album making than the entirety of 4, it's remixes and its bonus tracks.

I personally prefer Renaissance to Cowboy Carter, but CC is going to be in a pantheon of albums studied for what they meant to the industry and I think the impact of it will be felt for a long time, in ways we don't even know.  Particularly coming at one of the darkest times in American history.  Everything has sort of dovetailed for this perfect moment.

On that note, many people are currently competing with Beyonce, and in some cases they are outdoing her in terms of streams and sales.  But there isn't a single artist in the 21st century so far that will have a legacy like hers.

is it really necessary to keep repeating that we think her other albums were more deserving? of course BEYONCÉ was "more" deserving, it literally changed the game overnight. Of course Lemonade was "more" deserving, it was her magnum opus at the time. But this is all a non-point. And as an opinion, it's a little trite.

Not to mention, COWBOY CARTER has its own unique set of reasons for why it is deserving.

Beyoncé was not competing with her past work to get this win, she was competing with this year's nominees.

Order of how much I thought each should have been AOTY:

Self Titled - Innovative record, and the competition was ****

Lemonade - Important record, iconic era and live performances, but Adele was created in a lab to be a Grammy darling

Cowboy Carter - Innovative record with a clear historical and cultural significance, but the messiest album/era of the ones where she had creative control.

Renaissance - It's a great Beyoncé album and a love letter to her uncle and fans, but I'm not that pressed that it lost to a commercially bigger album.

I Am…Sasha Fierce - Great ballads, beautiful ballads.

4 was factually better than Born This Way, 21, and Loud though. It didn't get a nomination only because the era wasn't a blockbuster like the three mentioned before; in 2011 only a couple of albums could get nominated, unlike now, hence 4 got snubbed.

this is so true, he was in his networking "let's connect later" bag :deadbanana4: he's gonna buy Kai's YouTube channel or whatever platform he's famous on

I always had the impression that ST was disliked by the Grammy committee. AOTY would have 100% gone to Pharrell if Back hadn't won for some reason, while IASF might have been her closest chance at winning AOTY, all things considered.

Anyhow, I'm really happy she got it for CC.

Can she just release a song on the radio for the album? Be normal lady

I wonder if it was too sexual/sensual for them at the time.

But yeah Bey didnt even win the Urban Contemporary Grammy over Pharrell that year. So I wouldn't be surprised if it was her biggest longshot.

4 may have been snubbed from its nomination, but it certainly was not snubbed from a win. Even had it been as successful as IASF, I still can't see it beating 21 which overall was a more cohesive and industry-shaking moment than 4.

21 just had that modern-classic vibe about it and a much stronger point of view. It was one story, it was a work about heartbreak. It shouldn't win just for that, but it was also an excellently made album, so good that it propelled 25 into winning when it really shouldn't have. I'm not even really a fan of it and if I've ever listened by choice, then I forgot...but it really was that album of 2011 especially in terms of Grammy standards and even as pro-Beyoncé as I am, I don't think it winning was a snub to 4 at all.

Has anything been CONFIRMED about Jordan Peele's involvement with the visuals?
