I don't exactly know what they'll do for the era at this point, it's been a year plus.

What should have been done should've been done last fall, not this fall.

The era has been fumbled and the tour is slaying, just like with Lemonade

The album is still charting though so I guess there's that.

It must be difficult to pour so much time and energy into hating Bey and still see her smash records and continue to succeed

The video of the reporter talking about it is not promising at all. It sounds like the project is still very much in limbo or completely scrapped

I still think she could sell digital copies on her website/itunes and would still at least get their money back from that alone. Not to mention the extra profit it would bring to the album

itself via increased streams/sales.

It it hasn't/won't come out in the next couple of months it means she doesn't want't it to come

out and is indeed scrapped yeah.

honestly, it'd be an uphill battle. not many people are willing to pay $15+ for a digital download music video film, especially for an album that's old news. and once she sells digital copies as downloads, it'll spread on the internet like wildfire and be pirated to death.

this is why going to a publisher is a safer bet — she gets her money regardless of how it performs. plus no need to figure out how to sell massive video downloads on her web store. plus, streamers make it difficult for the average user to screenshot or record content.

I think it's time to completely fire everyone at parkwood... maybe even dissolve it completely. The workers don't actually work, no one holds anyone to deadlines (I really think Beyoncé needs SOME pressure to move things along, otherwise we are delayed by a whole year) and they can't even handle the artists signed under them correctly, do they even make money?

The only money I see them getting is from Beyoncé touring.

Its clear its a brunch of creatives who are working there, not Business majors. Thats why they are literally unqualified to be project leaders who put pressure on these things and demand deadline, etc.

These are good points, but it would still be better to make anything than nothing at all.

It just doesn't make sense to me on why she wouldn't put it out. Because unlike the FWT which was basically recording something that was happening regardless, they clearly invested a lot more money, time and effort into making this film. How unhappy can she even be with the final result?!

Y’all. Travis Scott just dropped a whole one hour visual on YouTube like Beyoncé could easily just do something like that and would probably get more views and make back all the money on her investment in the project in one of her LA shows this upcoming weekend. Like I don’t rly believe she’s shopping it around to streamers and if she is I think that’s just overcomplicating things

to be honest I think she's going to use tour footage in the visuals.

did y'all see that at the end of the show last night she said "I'll be right back"? my timeline prediction right now is visuals and Act II after the tour and new tour legs announced for next year, starting in Australia. we shall see if they have an ounce of logic left or not over at Parkwood.

Im afraid we know the answer... See you in Viola

I will say though: Judging by Nadjas previous work and the description of the film being weird/cooky, a Halloween release seems appropriate

This. This. This!

The math has to math.

A big check + promotional commitment from a streamer or network is what she's been used to for almost a decade (Lemonade, Homecoming, BIK). Being thrust into a situation where she'll only make back $$$ what she sells is too risky and would at best be a $ loss-leading exercise to keep up appearances.

Remember that sales would have to cover her production costs, promotional budget (commercials, online ads, billboards etc), and somehow turn a big profit to make it all worthwhile.

The whole upside of this confusion is that this tea leaking will almost certainly force her team's hand to seed a clean-up story of their own. One that finally hints at or confirms who her streaming partner is. I'm expecting this via Variety or Deadline semi-imminently.

Drag as some may, but Parkwood definitely is aware just like they were when her business acumen was called into question with the Adidas dropping IVP tea was spilt. They almost immediately followed with the whole Balmain thing. In the grand scheme of things it was a fluff piece/venture, but it did enough to razzle and dazzle a fickle GP and pivot the story to her once again winning with something "game-changing".

In short, I feel we'll have the tea soon.

He did this AFTER giving it a theatrical release in exclusive partnership with AMC theaters. He got his check via that means, so the YouTube +iTunes availability is just an added bonus.

It was an artsy/fartsy wannabe BIK (complete with the same directors) and wasn't really super narrative-driven, so I wonder if he faced what Jeff Sneider suggests was Bey's issue some six months ago. Streamers who were once shelling out big bucks for projects like that are being more careful with their coins.

Look what the insider on another forum added contextually. It seems the push for a theatrical release is the bone of contention:

I like that the source was open about which parts are conjecture, but this altogether paints a clearer picture.

From the streamer's end, it's less there being no interest in the conventional sense, but allegedly no interest in a strategy that sees Ren do a theatrical launch first then a streaming premiere in a short window after. While it is something that conventional movies are doing more and more, it appears the feeling is that, for a music film, there's no replay value for those who would have seen it at the theater first.

From Bey's end, it seems these Pop stars are pushing for theatrical first as an awards play. There still seems to be this enduring sentiment in Hollywood that "proper films" premiere in theaters. It tends to reflect in who wins these "serious" awards...something she's constantly passed up for.

The whole situation is both hella interesting and yet another hella annoying component of an era that has been a rollercoaster in its action and inaction.

All that said, I can't see a scenario where Parkwood doesn't have a contingency plan. Especially as everyone's tea (both Jeff and the forum insider) dates back to late 2022/early this year. Based on the info avail, I'd bet Bey does have deals on the table but ones that mandate a streaming launch first. So getting the visual out may simply be a case of letting the theatrical release idea go.

She could also throw a middle finger up at the streamers, strike a deal with an AMC (like Travis, Taylor, etc), create an air of FOMO around ONLY being able to see the visuals in theaters, and let that be that. Possibly packaging its home cinema release (if it gets one) with future acts?

It's also very plausible that the deal she wants has been struck in the time since.

For example, the Amazon involvement a) seemed to magically pop up mid-era and b) seems very all-encompassing (e.g. parties, merch, etc). More broadly, Amazon are shelling out coins for content to try and compete streaming-wise and now owns MGM if a theatrical release is what's wanted.

We'll see.

I just want something to happen.  I'll gladly take either the visuals, an extension of the tour or Act 2 at this point. I will admit that not releasing the visuals or the tour docie would be a terrible blow to fans. I hope Parkwood cleans up its act.

Same.

The tea definitely engages the geeky side of my brain and feeds my appetite for all things music industry.

But as a fan first and foremost, it's all dragging now.

It's getting to a point where, IMO, any kind of launch for the visuals post Q4 of this year, officially puts it in the "what's the actual point" category. Especially if the visuals are solely for Ren....which is nearing 1.5 years since its release. Like, sis, be serious.

i still dont know why she pulled BMS from radio, that was honestly so unnecesary and one of the dumbest moves she's done this era, it absolutely KILLED Break My Soul's longevity.

Homestly BMS longevity was killed by lack of interest. It could of had a slightly longer BB100 run but you don't need radio to keep streams afloat just look at Alien/AHAP/Heated

This news is really interesting because I thought her team was just long balling the rollout but :rip:

Doja Cat - 'Scarlet' - Page 20 - Music - ATRL

umm… this doesn’t really sound reassuring at all… it really sounds like they have absolutely no plan what to do with this and don’t seem in a rush to release it

Doja Cat - 'Scarlet' - Page 20 - Music - ATRL

Maybe it's true; she only did visuals for a couple of songs from the get-go, then due to the success of the album decided to turn it into a full film, but then got injured and called the project off. Then she probably had to start arranging and preparing the Dubai performance while injured, then right after that, rehearsals for tour. That would explain the delay in production and the absolute mess this whole visuals situation has been. That would also explain why it's a sensitive topic for her as well. Maybe that's why they're just now being finished and who knows if they'll ever come out.
