Congrats for not caring, I guess? Do you want a prize or something?

do you want a prize for this crusade you’re going on that no one outside of your bubble cares about?

Anyway I as I said before, my biggest take away from if this Dubai thing is true, is that she is ready to be active. This will be her first true live performance since 2018 (Oscars was pretapped)... which increases my belief that we will get a Grammys performance. And if she does perform at the grammies, this will likely be the first time in over a decade a live performance from an era will be put up on her channel and be allowed to do its job of promoting her music. The Oscars performance is sitting at an impressive 14m

Yall better stop capping for Bey when she does something that doesn't align with our common class moral compass.

It is what it is. Literally everyones fave on this forum and stan twitter is an embarrassment. They are not activists nor as they as smart as their PR team presents them to be. They do shows and brand themselves out the ass for income. I'm just glad the Lemoande and BIK eras are over. I just can't argue for someone who is rich and clearly unbothered. Beyonce does not care.

The thing I think is funny is that if we criticize Bey for doing something worthy of criticism, y’all say “touch grass!” “Get a job!” “No one cares!” Yet when we praise her and talk about how amazing she is, that is considered a productive use of time and not a sign that the commenter is unemployed. :rip:

Also some of you need to learn how to correctly use the phrase “performative outrage.” Posting a comment criticizing her for performing Dubai is no different than posting a comment praising her for how much of a slay the Heated outro is. It’s the same thing: Bey does an action, we discuss it and apply a positive or negative feeling to the action and move on. If y’all are gonna call that performative outrage then I’m gonna say y’all are performative loving Renaissance.

OT: release the visuals coward!

If it’s an hour long performance she can essentially perform the whole album and hopefully doesn’t rehash any old sets. If any song gets choreo we can assume those will be added on the tour setlist if she already took the time to memorize some dances. Hopefully someone records with a phone that isn’t made of bricks and for more than 15 seconds!

I’ve been one of the people consistently saying she doesn’t owe us anything beyond the music so this argument doesn’t work on me.

No amount of ending your posts like an AIM away message is going to give your opinion more weight than mine.

most people are out for themselves...this is not a celebrity thing. if you got offered $20, 000 for 1 hour of your work skills...you'd take your ass over there for a free trip & that check. most of us do it far less in our home countries where we have shitty politics of our own. b/c why would I give it up just for you & your cause?

Ok drag her for 1 day... But 1 week later still going on? I hate to be this person but get a life for christ sake... Does she really occupy your mind and soul that much (I'm not specifically referring to you), that you cannot move on from the topic a week later??? It's giving mental sickness.

this sounds like a gig where she'd do Halo, Single Ladies, Crazy in Love, and maybe bring in Break My Soul and/or Cuff It. very doubtful it'll be Renaissance front to back but we can dream

I think she will just perform the hits.

Sigh i thought y’all had tea about visuals but it’s just messy arguments :'(

And its still a shallow, reductive response to anyone who cares. Emphasis on response because you weren't just making a stand alone statement, you were specifically responding to those who were critical of her and referred to them as "jokes"

"Melanie C pulls out of Poland NYE gig in solidarity with 'communities I support"

Trying to reduce the dynamics of the world by just telling everyone celebrities don't care or share your politics does not move the needle. Many artists build their brand by projecting such values through their music and their personas. They put their own money into supporting communities and movements. It's absolutely fair to hold them to it, and to judge them against the values that you as in individual respect. Sometimes they nudge & learn from it.

When Rihanna was getting dragged for featuring Johnny Depp, do you think it would make sense to go around deflecting all criticism with the same tired point of "She's not a politician"? Or would you just accept that criticism is valid and her job really doesn't have anything to do with the discussion? And I don't even care about Dubai but the logic of that deflection tactic is not strong.

:clap3: They're showing their true colours.

You could apply the same mentality to praising her though. Is Bey really on someone’s mind and soul so much that they spend hours upon hours browsing ATRL and posting over and over again how much they love her, want the visuals, speculating about her next project, etc and for what? Sure, it’s a hobby and a source of enjoyment/entertainment, but you could also argue that engaging in political discourse is a hobby - and a more productive/fulfilling one at that - than engaging in discussion about visuals that haven’t even been released yet.

I think some of you (not necessarily you) have this idea that people who criticize Bey are basement-dwelling losers who are constantly fuming/angry. Me personally, as someone who finds both political/ethical discussions AND pop music interesting, can add to the discussion by criticizing Bey and then go on with my happy life. Posting a comment on here doesn’t mean I’m constantly thinking about her/fuming as I go on about my day. Frankly I don’t think about this situation much at all until I log on to ATRL and visit the base. And that’s when I add to the discussion. It’s really not that serious.
