I think I need better headphones (I don’t have AirPods) b/c I got an AM trial b/c ppl were raving over the Dolby version but i’m not really hearing much of a difference from Spotify

I still don’t think she has had an iconic performance at the Grammys of her own songs, the collab with Prince and Tina Turner but none of her own singles have made it. Drunk In Love was basically promo, IIWAB a bit too far away from its release, Sandcastles/Love Draught was pretty but forgettable songs, Listen was meh.

Everytime I listen to Cuff It I find new layers and details to it. Just found a gorgeous piano right before and during the second chorus  It's kinda her BEST song production wise I would love for her and the whole team behind it to discuss it on Song Exploder.

You know I feel where you’re coming from. I loved them at the time but they didn’t age well in my opinion.  It’s like bday music but trying to sound grown without really committing to it like in self titled.

Find Your Way Back is a song that I really wish could have gotten attention. It's not even on a hit album

 

It also has an amazing video. Easily the biggest injustice in Beyoncé's career (which says a lot because her career is full of them).

10 songs and videos. It’s everything that is genetically Beyoncé but with an afrobeats twist and a sorta charisma that she doesn’t normally put in her songs. I really hope that she includes it in a prominent way on her next tour.

Why does "Pretty Hurts" get so much hate? It's far from her best but I think it's a cute mid-tempo. Same with "XO," I feel like it's under appreciated as well.

They both would have performed better in the mid-late 2000s. I really thought “XO” should have been big internationally.

They both could have been on 4 or IASF, I feel. I think "XO" especially is a beautiful song.

And "Pretty Hurts" can come off corny a bit but it's still powerful idk. it's definitely near the bottom on self-titled for me too, but I feel like it's dead last for everyone else.

Pretty Hurts ironically is a very clever track. The song is pretty, current for that time and polished. In that sense 'perfect' but also predictable and the least experimental and adventurous track but perfectly resembles the lyrics because of that reason.

Which is why I love the instruments so much on the song. Tbh that's really the only thing - along with the pre-chorus - about the song that hits hard for me. 

 

Saadiq also does a fantastic job on POTS, at least I think it's him. 

I remember wishing here in 2019 that she worked with him and they didn't disappoint. The instruments' work on POTS and CI is sublime. I had a trip lately where I heard everything so distinctly, incredible.

I slept on XO until Kobe passed away tbh.

I'm shocked at the Countdown slander, it's one of the most experimental song on 4 and is really really amazing.
