As someone who had been a fan off/on with Taylor I think her current position is interesting

On one side I feel like she gets too much hate for being tacky, releasing bad music and being micro analyzed as as eco terrorist, she gets more hate than rapists and other worse offenders in the music industry and grabs too much unnecessary drama and bad energy

On the other side, from all the popstars we stan here, she is by far the worst, terrorizing younger girls, blocking them intentionally, a chart egomaniac that is never full and has created one of the most toxic and poisonous parasocial relationships with young impressionable people with no personality. She is capitalism personified in a musician in the worst way possible.

Tbh only Nicki is worse than her.

So is she unerhated? Overhated?

Or is she just what she deserves?

Underhated, the media still worships her because of her popularity, the general public want to buy everything she releases and consumes her music and press coverage 24/7, and the music industry adores her because she makes them a ton of money no matter how much her artistic integrity has fallen.

Yes.

I kinda think overrated, she's obviously an emotionally stunted high school girl who's petty and arguably greedy if you think she's the mastermind behind monetizing everything she can… but there are much greater evils in the music industry, let alone the world.

If she wasn't so hugely successful I think a lot more people wouldn't attack her as much for her actions

She should receive more hate for choosing not to release Guilty as Sin as a single back in 2024

I think she's both overhated as a musician and as a person. She does alot I don't agree with and I find incredibly gross and despicable (ie. the ICE contractor at her wedding) — but majority of her controversies can be applied to any other pop girl (ie. taking advantage of FOMO and capitalism)

Let's see, the helicopter scandal was basically ecoterrorism, the 83935 variants/exploiting her fans & generating more waste, and now showing her true colors by inviting a man running an ICE facility to her wedding?

if anything, her fans play dumb, a lot. And the rest of the public don't care enough to realize that she is a menace, and not in a good way, like Madonna.

Yall can never make me feel pity for a billionaire white woman in America.

She is overhated, like most of the things she is hated for most artists do the same, the only difference is that it works for her and the rest of the stan world hates that.

The first two are stuff every single musician does without exception (especially the variants talk, even Madonna has 16 vinyl variants, but you wanted to add the "in a good way" for the sake of it), the wedding invitation is something that she should be dragged for

As an OTH, she honestly does receive quite a bit of hate. That being said, a lot of it can be attributed to her out of touch personality and culty fanbase. Hard to feel bad for her when her stans are legitimately insane.

As an artist she is one of the few to get on the weird spot where a lot of people overrate her and other underrated her. The people who tries to rate her work with neutral lens are noticeable fewer than the other big 2.

As a person?

Overhated by OTH's who lead depressing lives while they're faves all flop into oblivia

Welllll I guess it all depends on who runs the proverbial "concentration camp", and who just merely built it!

Of all the injustices and shitty actors in the world, you should focus on this one:

• she is popular, both positively and negatively, so why not land yourself a nice clickbait over internet?

• She is actually powerless to fight back: what can a pop star really do to revenge? Not sending DOJ or secret service to hunt you, or a trillionaire w/ enormous wealth and platform, or a sub trillionaire owning multiple outlets…

So congratulations for your smart choice of target of online activism?

She's neither over or under hated. She has a couple of generational albums, and about an equal number of solid but basic and totally forgettable ones. She has her gigantic cult and the whole gp recognizes that she can write even if she can't really sing or dance, but is increasingly sick of her fans' mass hysteria.

Outside of the internet all of the hate she gets is either centered around her wealth(which every public figure in her economic class gets) OR her fans insistence that she's the greatest and most successful artist of all time by an enormous margin when she's no better than at least a handful of other pop giants, and their insistence to make literally every conversation about her like middle school anime fans. She would probably be glazed to death like Beyonce if her fans were more normal.

i think shes somehow both. she gets flack for stuff that others who are just as bad and worse than her get a pass on and a lot of the hatred of her is genuinely because she is feminine and liked by lots of young women. the criticism of much of her music is also clearly biased imo. at the same time she does some genuinely horrible things and is clearly very corrupt and manipulative but she has a very rabid core stanbase that will defend her every move and theyre not a niche fanbase by any means.
