The size of the reactions to taylor swift is truly incredible. How does she manage to capitvate such intense stans and hatred? shes made some great songs, some good, some mid, some really bad. shes truly not worthy of the extreme praise or extreme disdain. Shes just a normal singer.

Madonna didnt build the same strong fanbase that Taylor has. This was before the huge rise in stan culture and Taylor has done more than most to cultivate a strong following. Madonna took more creative risks and conjured a lot more controversy which helped but also harmed her in many ways. American life being a strong example. Misogyny and ageism have less impact now than back then (tho again, this is still very much a real issue)

she's been making the same drab, uninspired overly wordy but not really saying anything slop for multiple albums now. and how many more times can she make the same song about how much she doesnt care about her haters? shes been making that song for almost 20 years...theres no way even the most diehard stan can still be gagging at the same material

the title alone makes me nervous and ive learned to keep my expectations low with her

i think every one of her albums has the same pattern of a handful of excellent songs a handful of terrible songs and a handful of nothingburger songs. esv is no different. island and rose colored lens are two of her best songs ever.

its not going to be interesting enough imo. bionic was divisive. i doubt anyone is going to be talking abt this miley album in a month let alone 16 years later. plus shes been flopping for a while unlike xtina at the time. miley has some chance for a comeback, flowers came out of nowhere. if she makes something good she could have another hit, also unlike xtina.

every generation thinks they are the end of history. more great and successful artists will come and break the records our biggest stars have set. its not like people in the future will stop caring abt music or celebrities or pop culture.

I don't actively wish harm on him or anyone but i never really understood why people feel the need to act oh so concerned or act like we need to care about horrible people as soon as they are ill or dead. If Charlie Kirks death could get memed to death then why is this automatically so serious and concering? there are people in your real life communities who go through the same and worse everyday and none of you stop to care about or feel sorry for them. At the end of the day he made a career of bullying, sexually harassing and stalking women and children - including those who themselves had mental health issues that he only mocked and harassed them for. As others have said, if a female celebrity had gone through this he would have mocked her mercilessly and made money from it too. I'll keep my sympathies for people who deserve it.
