Nick Jonas only had a few hits. Why?

Featured Replies

I used to be obsessed with Nick Jonas. I even begged my mom to buy his house when I saw it was being sold in the home selling section of a newspaper. Even though we're poor and could never afford it. Lol. And that was my dream. My home screen and all was his sexy photoshoot, back in 2016 (?) , you know the one. I kept changing it so my mom wouldn't see it because I was closeted, even tho she probably already knew lol

Anyway, I'm shocked what happened to his career today. The only noticeable hits being Jealous, Chains, and Close (and any I'm forgetting?). I thought he was going to be a superstar. He's released so many songs that went nowhere, and his YouTube views for his newer videos are embarrassingly low.

What went wrong?

Cause he only had 2 albums, went back to the group and took ages to release a third. Any hype for his solo work evaporated

He got the career he was destined to have. Jealous is still a bop.

Levels and Bacon were cute little moments

His Spotify daily streams are 751k rip

Joe was cuter and should've went solo years before to ensure everyone's longevity

Bland, boring, generic music. no substance.

At least he should show hole to make it more interesting.

tbh i think the real issue with the jonas brothers' solo careers is that they didn't do enough to step outside of their niche and make brands for themselves as individuals. being hot and talented isn't enough when you dont have an image that can distinguish you from bieber, bruno, jt, and the weeknd

Honestly just the music. He had so much potential but the music he was doing was so bland or not memorable

He should've released Teacher as a single and push it properly, it would've smashed. He made this one mistake and his career never recovered I fear!

In all seriousness he had a cute amount of success tbh.

I think he lacked creed. For many he was the christian jobros guy
He tried to have an adult transition but it was too cringe to work. He was trying too hard
He needed his messy slutty druggy era like miley to erase his disney reputation ryan3 he needed to show hole

He definitely ran his course but this is still one of the best pop songs ever

I'm going to say a very crowded field going in the same sonic directions.

If I found out the A&Rs of Nick Jonas, Shawn Mendes, the late Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Justin Bieber, Austin Mahone, and Jason Derulo were fighting for beats / demos like financial traders on the trading floor, I would 100% believe you. There should be no reason why I can hear all of them on "Levels," "Jealous," or "Under U."

Interesting fact: "Under U" comes straight from what was to be Usher's last big, pre-streaming pop project UR, which was mysteriously shelved (and its tour cancelled) when "I Don't Mind" peaked at #11, "Good Kisser" only went top 40, and "She Came To Give It To You" didn't blow up.

Usher had duets with Drake, Ed Sheeran, Diplo ("Go Missin'"), and Skrillex lined up alongside those above tracks, "Clueless" (Cheerios Instant Grat), and leaked tracks "Believe Me", "All Falls Down" (f. Chris Brown), and "Still Got It" (f. The Migos).

"Milk Carton" (a cousin of "Good Kisser" from the same writing team), "Bedroom" (a cousin of "Under U" from the same writing team) and the four other tracks from the rumored tracklist remain unreleased.

That self-titled album had heaters. Spaceman was meh and I haven't listened to Sunday's Best yet.

Closer shoulda been a hit.
