Haven't heard the album she is really hit or miss for me but the fight with Rihanna fans is so hilarious to me like Rihanna has been very succesful since the start of her career and Tyla despite craving a name for herself haven't reach out the heights of whatever Rihanna even achieved on her debut which is fine, Rihanna was a once in a lifetime thing that a girl from a third world country would smash out of nowhere and domínate the world for years and reach legend status, it's not easy to do and Tyla is doing well for her standards and actual state of the music industry.

She just needs to hire better producers, have a vision and a better label because it seems people can be tuned for her if she releases catchy good bops with the right promo which I haven't seen this era and even when Chanel started to do well it could have done way better but her team is a mess

like the issue here is her team dgaf about her where is the promo where is the quality control? she should be everywhere in America but I suppose they don't mind her being nothing but the Water / CHANEL girl outside of South Africa

Like it's literally because they're both lighter skinned and not from the US that's not to say there's zero inspiration but people really told on themselves when they latched onto that and made it a whole thing

The difference is Rihanna ALWAYS had her finger to the pulse of the next big sound. She had great taste and that makes it easier for her since she typically knows a hit when she hears it, even when her label didn't (as was the case with Umbrella, Disturbia, Rude Boy, Needed Me, etc). If Tyla can't tell a hit or explore her sound, then she's to blame for it and not anyone else. Rihanna literally self-funded songs, videos, and a whole tour, all while she was younger than Tyla is currently.

If all it took for someone to make it to the level Rihanna did was a team, then there would be plenty of artists on that level, and there aren't. That's why Rihanna's old songs from 2010 are outstreaming any and every Tyla song despite the fact that she just released an album

People started latching onto it after Tyla literally said she wanted to be "as big as Rihanna or even bigger," so of course every little thing was gonna get compared after that. Then the MET Gala happened and it just made it worse.

The comparisons aren't helping her career!!! Why are people talking about Tyla's career like it's following Rihanna's timeline? Stuff like "Rihanna's second album wasn't great either, but by the third she had Umbrella and that's what Tyla needs" is so weird 😭.

That's never gonna happen because Rihanna is Rihanna and Tyla is Tyla. Let her have her own path instead of trying to force the same career trajectory.

Rihanna has always been very self-aware when it comes to her image, that's a fact. But she also basically pioneered the massive writing-camp culture focused on manufacturing hits in the pop music. She's a combination of all those things because she's a rare phenomenon

And I vividly remember the radio spin updates for "Rude Boy" constantly climbing thanks to massive payola. The investment was huge because it always paid off
