KATSEYE - "PINKY UP"

Featured Replies

There are rumors that Manon's hiatus was just a publicity stunt and that she's expected to return for Coachella.

Supposedly, she was against the idea from the start because she felt it would end up hurting her image.

I love Manon and want her back, but all the "only care about Manon, **** the others" comments are... kinda weird, lol.

You dont get to be an iconic girlgroup without drama, so let the girls go through that - thats the spice that people seek in entertainment fan

It literally hurt all of them individually and as a band skull but I can def easily see a "as long as theyre talking" "any publicity is good" type of mentality behind it rip I hope it's true and she's back though.. even if it sucks she also missed out on the latam festivals, she put in the work and deserved to experience the fans reception etc as well

There is no way they benched her out of the Latin America dates as a publicity stunt

However I can see it as Manon wanting a short break for a date or two and Hybe being ok ***** sure but we will say it's a hiatus and leave people in the dark for anticipation and drama

but her activity on socials right after the hiatus announcement suggested something a bit worse no? or at least that was the general interpretation? why wouldnt someone clear it up (a bit) if it had been (mostly) her decision? cuz it made them look awful skull maybe they dont care ig but still, all those publications writing those thinkpieces abt her mistreatment.. plus I cant imagine the other girls loving the backlash they've been receiving as well over not showing more support towards Manon etc idk a mess deadvision

People fall so easily for these PR moves

Imagine they did all that for PR and the song still flops ahh

whoever leaked ALL OF THIS is so getting fired lmao

atp how unlikely is it that their team did it on purpose

I wouldn't be surprised that it was leaked by their team in a way to amp up their comeback.

The best part of the song is the end with that sample, the rest is the same gnarly type of song but less interesting. We'll see.

I'm not sure whether Manon's hiatus is a PR move, but the track, music video concept, and choreography showing up online all feel very intentional. Since all of that creative includes her, they had to know it would spark speculation about her return. It also seems like everything was filmed in advance, probably before the Jimmy Fallon appearance, so she was clearly meant to be included. Now people are going to be wondering if they rerecorded the track to remove her parts or if she's still in the video when it drops.

I personally think something happened behind the scenes and Manon got in trouble. In a fan video, when someone asks Megan about her, you can see her expression shift and she looks uncomfortable. That reaction felt too genuine to be staged.

At the same time, I don't think management expected Manon to get as much attention as she did when the hiatus was announced, especially with someone as big as SZA speaking up. My guess is she'll still be back for Coachella. If she isn't then I don't think she's returning.

These snippets are not for me, it feels kinda juvenile, I thought they'd be heading in a more mature direction after that 2nd EP but these first two songs are so confusing from a marketing standpoint. They need more hits from Charli.

Most iconic girl groups have iconic respectable discography to back them up. Even No Harmony had decent catalog and 2 worldwide hits.

Katseye have none.

OT: I'll just gonna give them 2 years before TikTok and the GP are fed up with them. Their musical direction has been all over the place

Fifth Harmony were together for about two years before they really broke through with Worth It, and KATSEYE feels like they're right at that same point now. This third EP could really decide things for them. Gnarly and Gabriella feel like their version of BO$$" and Sledgehammer.

I don't think Internet Girl was ever meant to be the lead single, it came off more like something they dropped just to have a new song for tour. And honestly, it's kind of tragic that Flame and that Monster High track are still on the setlist.

I'm not sure if Pinky Up is going to smash. I get what you're saying though, at this point they probably need a clearer direction. But maybe that direction really is just chaotic Gen Z brain rot music with strong choreography.

you can't be serious. Gnarly is just straight up obnoxious, the only redeeming part was how they performed it which is also the reason why it blew up.

like I don't think it's about how many years they have been in the industry at this point cause If their label wanted them to be the next big girl group. They would've provided them a cohesive stronger direction right from the start with all that machinery they have. It's clear that this group is honestly just an experiment.

If manon is out I'm out. sorry also enough with these stupid cheap sounding songs. They are becoming a joke even amongst their fans. deadbanana2

I think Beautiful Chaos had a good balance between styles and they honestly pull most if it quite nicely so michael

judging by what Lara said in this interview it seems that's still their mentality going forward

also with Gabriela still doing so well, you'd think they'd go for more melodic pure pop type songs like that if they wanted "radio hits" but then again I feel like Gnarly prob feels more of a signature song for them so that's why they're leaning into that vibe, it makes them standout more

Both Gnarly and Gabriella have positioned KATSEYE to build an audience. In less than a year, Gnarly is nearing 500M streams, and Gabriella has surpassed 700M on Spotify.

Time comes with direction. Fifth Harmony's Better Together EP was pure teen pop, while Reflection introduced an R&B thread. Epic immediately pushed them toward a mature image. Camila went from singing "Come harder just because I don't like it too rough…" at 17 to singing about sending nudes in Work From Home at 18. KATSEYE, by contrast, seems to be hovering between adult and tween pop without fully committing to either. I think they'll need to pick one or the other soon.

That said, KATSEYE is already the next major girl group. They bagged two Grammy nominations and immediately went on a sold-out headlining tour before releasing an album, and no other new girl group comes close to their monthly listeners.

are we still discussing about the quality or lack thereof their music? or you stanning for their success which mind you are payola'd from their label.

they aren't gonna be on top for long especially with that poop they keep on serving and now that the same label is also preparing for another global girl group.

I don't see them abandoning KATSEYE. There's already been a huge investment, and it's already had significant returns with even more potential. I guess quality and taste are subjective. Personally, I enjoy tracks like Gnarly, Gabriella, Gameboy, MIA, Touch, and Debut.

I'm not concerned about Prelude. I like Lexie, but I think launching them will be more challenging, since nobody has been following their journey in the same way audiences followed KATSEYE on Netflix. They also seem to lack chemistry.

They aren't gonna abandon them cause the group signed and still bound to a contract and if they have the same contractual obligation like an average kpop group does then they're still good for 4 more years so how sure are we HXG would not halt this investments and like focus more on Prelude? were talking about the same label who destroyed their own kpop group who had the most potential to crossover as per their stans.
