    it's over for her

I wonder which side pulled the trigger. UMG could be sick of the Solar Power -> Virgin run- which I think is too harsh, they did pretty good regardless- or Lorde wanted less constraints... idk I need @Kayseri Mantisi's expertise on the matter

is she still going on about the 1%er water bottle

Not sure if I should be happy or sad about it. So many artists just drop from the globe the moment they go independent.

This makes sense for her. She hasn't really ever opened up about her relationship with her label. So, I don't know if she ever felt confined by it. From the outside, it seemed like they gave her a lot of freedom. But, I am curious to see what she cooks up. Hopefully she releases more frequently. This 4-year wait for an album drop is not fun as a fan.

it depends if they genuinely are into music as they say they are. i mean, tinashe has made some of her best music being independenti

Releasing music while not under a label is more difficult so I hope she has a team behind her who's able to still make that happen.

This could be good for her. Creative freedom and she can make distribution and licensing deals with other labels, and still tour at the level she is touring.

I'm excited!

Source? She's only released four albums, majors deals are usually minimum six. And while Virgin wasn't huge, the lead single did debut at number one on Spotify in the US. I don't buy that they would want to drop her, she still has potential for a comeback and universal have all the money in the world so it's not like they need to save costs.

This could be good or bad. Maybe more freedom, but now she would have to fund her albums.

It seems like the label no longer wanted to deal with her considering how Solar Power and Virgin performed when you compare it to Pure Heroine.

From the voice note, doesn't seem there's bad blood with the label. The contracts just ended and she currently just want to be independent with no constraint. She mentions she might be having a label again someday, and it could be Universal again. So yeah, I think she's the one who pulled the trigger.
