In 2024, pop icon Katy Perry released her infamous 7th album 143. 143 was released to very strong mixed reactions when it arrived.

Still one of the worst albums I've ever heard in my life. Witness and Smile at least had a couple of great songs like Chained to the Rhythm, Bon Appetit, Never Really Over and Harleys in Hawaiis; 143 is legitimately one of the few pop girl albums where I don't like a single song

I was somewhat ready to enjoy it subversively or ironically since I still do (lowkey) root for her to comeback, but I just genuinely couldn't. There were a few gems on Witness and Smile, but the trap beats and dated 2019 poppy synths on here get on my nerves so bad. I can forgive cringy lyrics, but there are absolutely zero hooks, the verses are painful to get through, there's absolutely no successful progression in any of the songs. My main problem with Witness is that it presents a top line that could be halfway decent and then beats you over the head with it, but 143 takes it to another level by washing them out so completely in repetition that it becomes almost numbing.

I find it tired to pile on Katy on ATRL.net in the year of our lord 2026, but the music is genuinely beyond revaluation here.

Smile is sooo much better I fear

It's bad but Lifetimes should've been the lead single.

Lifetimes is cute dance filler but the album is a lifeless chop
