  1. Taylor is primarily an album artist who had unprecedented catalog success during her Eras peak with album tracks blowing up as a result of albums being consumed as a whole. In the streaming era, a non-Taylor pop girl album being carried by the singles is the norm, not the exception, so with some of the TLOAS album tracks being not so hot, this album being carried by singles isn't all that surprising nor does it mean she's flopping. It's just a slight market correction to the once-in-a-lifetime run she had during the Eras tour
  2. Yeah, he at least caused some discourse and investment of some sort on his artistry after Bad Habit, I haven't seen anyone mention Ms Lefty outside of her nepo baby status The lack of any engagement on both of the Boston YouTube videos outside of nepo jokes fmu
  3. This screams the type of song that gets engagement from TikTok, leading to people putting it on playlists and mindlessly playing it in the background. It's inoffensive and trendy but doesn't lead to any sort of personal investment in the artist themselves
  4. Looking back, I was way too late to the game but:
  5. Biopics are almost all uniformly manufactured slop nowadays so I'm not expecting much, but if it leads to a revaluation of her career and discussion of her impact by younger generations, I'm here for it
  6. My favorite song on this album has changed multiple times, see when you make AOTY
  7. I used to live in a rural county in Texas where they're currently building a massive AI data center; majority Republican county, but people across the political spectrum there are irate that this happened with essentially no community input or oversight, and they had huge turnout at local meetings with county officials regarding its construction. I think some in this thread are confusing opinions on general AI use with the extremely deleterious environmental effects of AI data centers on surrounding communities, this is an issue that is absolutely bipartisan and will only intensify with the proliferation of data centers.
  8. I do relate to a lot of this, but I do want to offer some insight that might make it feel a bit less isolating from personal experience. Chiefly, the issue isn't necessarily with gay social groups overall, but context; 10 gay guys at dinner sometimes presupposes a context that invites performance. It's possible that some of those guys play up the stereotypical behavior like hypersexuality and loudness because they assume that's the correct schema for a group of gay men of that size in that age range. I've had the experience where gay guys who do all of those things in one context actually end up being really chill in other contexts, not just one-on-one, and their demeanor completely shifts. The other thing is that the eliciting of overperformance in a large group isn't isolated to gay guys. I was in a frat, and it was the same thing; constant sex talk, loudness, talking over one another, feeling like you can't get a word in. I got to see those guys in a lot of different contexts though, and often times, the experience one-on-one or in a smaller group was completely different; sometimes a group of the exact same size would even have a completely different vibe in a different context. I can't personally attest to this, but a lot of my female friends have said the same thing about large groups of girls at social events as well. So it's a pretty common thing with which to be uncomfortable. That's not to say that you have to force yourself to be okay with large groups (honestly even after everything I said, I'm still not,) but it's more to say that that experience isn't a reason to discount gay friend groups wholesale, even if they exhibit some of the markers that you observed, because it's not isolated to just them. Socializing is rough as hell for anyone lot of people in our age group, and being an aspie makes it an even more complex challenge (another thing I can relate to,) but the main thing I wanna say is that none of this means that it's not possible for you to feel a sense of belonging with gay friend groups if that's something you want.
  9. I think a lot of her 80s work is slept on (ironically, as you said, since it contains a lot of her biggest hits) because of how masterful her 90s work is and how much it's been reevaluated recently. All of her 80s studio albums are pretty immaculate to me and have several album tracks that deserve a resurgence, LAP most of all
  10. Gaga already had two HAC smashes with Shallow and ARUTW within a few years of DWAS' recording, Bruno was clearly banking on it being a crossover smash based on her established success with that type of music The real question is, why would anyone call Katy Perry for a collab this decade if they wanted it to obtain any sort of success?
  11. Sabrina and Olivia stans are really going to turn into the Gen Z Kats/Liddos or Army/Fighters atp feeding a stan war based on drama that ended years ago and that both girls have moved on from, pitting them against one another in every metric is kind of nonsensical at this point since they're both on their own distinct paths career-wise
