Honestly I'm glad it worked out this way where the majority of attention remained on the new tour leg and its general hype/success. If the sole focus was on the new song I feel its negative perception as "the new Hilary Duff single" would be magnified. Best to just release it and move on, especially now knowing it's just a cute kitty bop that's disconnected from the current era musically and not really meant to advance her artistry in any meaningful way (no shade, it's fun). Now I really want them to get back to pushing luck...or something and creating exciting moments like that magical Grammy Museum performance and teasing a deluxe project.

I just want her to serve more crispy, crunchy, pulsating and titillating bops like Pretty Please, please

Yeah I think some signs are pointing here. Unless the Jingle Ball gig (while great) was the big interesting holiday season tease, which I doubt. Maybe Holiday Party (single) is still on the table? We clocked the designated HP box next to Tennis in the CATastrophe video. Or maybe it could end up being a cute Christmas EP like (mine). They could throw on Holiday Party (Christmas mix) to connect it to the luck...era. The main reason I wouldn't want a full Christmas album (and this is so petty I know) is that I don't really like how Santa Clause Lane is lumped together with her other studio albums. On this same note I also hate how Most Wanted is listed as a studio album on streaming and not the compilation that it actually is

I thought Catastrophe might hold me over for a bit longer, but it ended up being like a cotton candy where it tasted good for a bit then quickly disappeared. I feel that could be the same if she drops a Christmas song too (I'd still happily stream though, obviously). But I definitely would welcome any concrete updates on the Deluxe and how it's forming at this point, since that's what I'm really craving. More music.... Just a passing thought (and assuming it's ready by then) but I wonder what's the likelihood of them promoting the Deluxe alongside the concert/doc film later this year? It might be a smart move to bring attention to both, although I'm not sure what that cross promo would even look like tbh. I think I remember JLo doing something like that with her latest album and documentary kind of attached to it, but it did not bode well for her obviously

Thoughts after the first day hype: the prechorus is way more solid than the actual chorus. But the production is what really makes this so bombastic and fun. I'm actually glad it's short and sweet, just a little gumdrop bop for the kids. I think maybe a dancier remix for the clubs might be cute too, but now I'm ready to hear what other songs she's been cooking

8, 9, and 10 are so underrated too. The only dud being Picture This at 11 (should have been replaced with Hurts from the scrapped album tbh)

What I love about this era, especially in retrospect, is despite how messy everything was in pretty much every aspect (label shenanigans, change in sound/direction, promo/rollout, Hilary's personal life), she still managed to deliver a solid pop record with genuine bangers and heartfelt songs that felt true to her I also think it set alot of the groundwork for luck...or something, especially business-wise, in how she took back control and avoided what RCA failed her with too
