The way DWAS was added to Mayhem is a lot less egregious than what other artists have done. DWAS has been on Mayhem since the album debuted. The song also wasn't attached to another project, putting it on Mayhem gave the song a home

If JFAD wasn't such a massive flop it would have been added to the credits and could have been an Oscar winning song for Gaga and Bruno. DWAS probably would of fit Harlequin better than Mayhem, but it fits the album well enough

I'm just glad a collaborator released their own album without it, so we didn't need to be dragged into those stan fights. It's a GaGa song where she's listed first on a GaGa album with a music video on GaGa's YT.

We'll also always be able to rely on the fact that DWAS was literally intended for a Gaga album and just ended up moving over to another one.

The universe always intended to give Gaga a generational smash one way or another.

I mean objectively I don't think Mayhem is her most impactful album or whatever, but you're right about her being held to ridiculous standards.

I agrih, "redefining culture" seems like a vague and abstruse term for baguettes to simply rationalize not vibing with an album rather than giving a substantive critique. I can probably count on one hand the amount of MPG albums this decade that felt culturally impactful

Critics always hold Gaga to the standart of redifining culture, it's nothing new

They praise the album when it's out and then later criticize it because it didn't single-handedly shift the axis of the entire universe, while glazing other less ambitious pop girls mid albums

The Beast to DWAS works much better than Blade of Ass to DWAS though
