If the Grammy voting period was still going through the Oscars for Shallow and DWAS had more time to dominate then yeah I feel they were likely the closet chances she had to winning.

It's clear some voters just DO NOT want ha to win Gf

IMO I don't really care how many Grammys Gaga wins since around ASIB. She's been celebrated and recognized by them a lot, I mean, I still think about that Joanne (where do you think you're going) win. She's won a ton, and sure, she deserves an AOTY/main category win for her discography, and some of her loses have hurt, but atp she's becoming one of the most awarded artists in history that it's hard for me to get upset by it.

Plus, my toxic trait is I'm more of a little chartster than a little awardster, and the little chartster in me cashed out on a lifetime of chart success dopamine from DWAS

Of course Gaga deserves to win all the awards but let's be real now, some of the biggest and most legendary musical acts of all time have won zero Grammys. She still has 16. Just look at the bright side.

Exactly. Icons like Bjork and Iggy Azalea having zero Grammys is very criminal. Let's be happy Godga was able to snatch more & will receive more within time with MAYHEM REQUIEM otw

Let us all take a moment to reflect and TRULY appreciate the Mayhem era that we've been blessed with.

Yeah, she didn't win a deserving AOTY and ROTY this time, but let's not forget that she walked away with two awards that clearly means something to her - Abracadabra and Mayhem. Both represent her powerful return to her roots, that's what made us fall in love with her in the first place, I am sure.

Sure, AOTY is prestigious, but so is Best Pop Vocal Album. A Grammy is a Grammy. And let's be real: 16 Grammy. SIXTEEN. That is iconic behaviour.

What excites me the most, and I am damn sure, is the fire in her eyes that we've seen in her over the last 18 months. It hasn't faded - you can see it today as well. It is knowing that she still has so much more to prove and give. Not that she needs to "prove" anything, otherwise you are basically insulting to TF, TFM, BTW and Mayhem (all AOTY-nominated masterpiece).

Beyond awards, I trust that she seems much happier. Healthier. More creativie. And importantly, at peace. We have so much to look forward to. We are getting Mayhem Requiem, The Prada song, A Weeknd collaboration. And who know what else she's cooking lately?

You have given us an unforgettable era, Lady Gaga. We love you, we are proud of you and your achievements.

I bet Gaga & Michael invited Chapel and Bad Bunny to eat at her place tonight. giraffe

Pop Vocal is still a very solid win, especially knowing that it's her first since BTW. It's the best award she could've won outside of GF because it celebrates Mayhem holistically as an album/era and cements it as a successful era. There's no taking that away from her.

For General Field, it's not a never. Kendrick and Bad Bunny are both very strong competitors, both critically and commercially. It was always going to be hard winning against them.

For ROTY, she needs something similar to Abracadabra quality level but even bigger. It was #56 on the year-end and unfortunately that is on the low end for a category like ROTY that awards mega chart hits.

For AOTY, it doesn't need to be bigger, but I think it needs to be even more acclaimed than Mayhem. And more undeniable. #24 on critics' aggregate is good for Gaga but still low for AOTY winners.

And most of all, she'll need luck and timing to be on her side.

Also, Mayhem/Abra/DWAS feel so celebrated, between it being a smash on TikTok, album cuts having amazing streams, DWAS being one of the biggest songs of all time, Copacabana records, abracadabra year end critic placements, solid metacritic, tour praised to the max, and the album itself being undeniably amazing, I feel like it's been a positivity train since the moment abra dropped. Hard for me to get upset, even if it could've won more than it did

Wrap these essays up by the top of the hour. We have a legendary era to commemorate…

I can't believe there's people who didn't like the performance... It was bone chilling, her stage presence, artistry and pure ICONICNESS were incredible. Her vocals, the legendary McQueen fashion, her playing the synths, there's no other female artist doing it like her. She's raw talent and artistic vision presented on a pop medium. With that performance I fell in love with her all over again like when I was 15 watching her bleeding on the vmas, not because of the spectacle or the props but for her chaotic and contagious energy on a stage.

I felt that too heart2 I got chills all over my body all through the performance. I dont like the idea of a full on rock album at this time and the arrangement didnt give me that, it gave me electronic rock which she kinda explored with Born This Way and thats my fav album from her. If this is indicative of LG8 im gonna be so happy with it.

After her wins tonight. Her biggest supporters are definitely the POP/Dance bloc.

Urban + Rap and Latam Music voters are her biggest opposition. I also think that these are the biggest voting bodies.

She needs a massive coalition to win AOTY and SOTY. She needs to court the Rock, Country, Adult Contemporary blocs.

She needs to collab with artists from these genres more to earn them it looks like. I'm sad Kendrick pulled out that collab because her fans are too gay for him.

I hope she's reinvigorated to keep making dark bawps. Mayhem seemed like the first era since BTW that she really believed in herself and her art (I'm talking specifically about the pop projects).

When abracadabra premiered last year, it made me so happy to see her fully step into her power and own who tf she is. And all that was solidified by the Coachella show and tour. She seems like she's finally able to bet on herself again, and as a fan that just made me so happy to see

Ntm comparing Iggy and Björk... I mean, Iggy could do Pluto but can Björk do Rolex..

can't believe so many don't like the performance omgg. i thought she was giving pure 2009 Gaga with the way she was moving, posing and holding herself. not to mention her vocals were incredible too! i guess it's not what most expected a rock Abra to sound like but the way they arranged that bridge was absolutely EVERYTHING……as far as if she can ever get a general field or aoty win…i think she should look into alternative ways to rolling out her next album. i think creating a different "aura" surrounding an album than what most ppl are used to from her, doubled with potential legendary producers and/or features could create something that finally gets her there.

I don't think it's a case of the voters being reluctant to give her a GF win, I just think each year she has been pipped to it by a safer choice. The GF wins tend to be a bit more pedestrian and Gaga is more polarising than the average artist nominated in those categories, albeit clearly respected considering she's on her 16th win.

Wasn't Gaga supposed to collab with Chappel Roan?

Also, where's her picture with Kesha?! angry

Final thing I'll say is this years competition was extremely, extremely strong. Kendrick and Bad Bunny both had great albums that succeeded commercially, critically, and were big moments culturally. Had this been a different year that had less competition maybe I would've been more bitter, but I'm really happy for Bad Bunny, and Kendrick would've been a good win too.
