The thing is, what she achieved with Mayhem won't be easy to replicate going forward (Big radio hits, sales, cultural impact, career best reviews) + an accessible body of work made with only a few other people. I have no doubt that she has albums as good as or better than Mayhem in her, but most of the time quality is not enough and you gotta check some boxes.

Maybe she needs a rnb tinged record at long last like we have wanted since DWUW.....it can be a commercial blockbuster for her and I know she'll put her unique spin on it

But honestly who cares if she's a 16x Grammy winner vs a 30x Grammy winner if they just keep giving her the same pop category awards repeatedly

The thing is I want her to win with a solid body of work like MAYHEM, and not with a mediocre album just because she was "overdue" (looking at last year's AOTY)

No I agree it is frustrating, I'm not really sure what she needs to do at this point either. I guess if she does have another era sooner rather than later we'll see what happens then but yeah I'm not sure if it's that each opportunity she's had pop competition in the category that has lowered the amount of votes she's getting from pop voters, or voters from other genres aren't respecting her much to give her a vote, or both, but it's sad to see her lose out again.

In the end, this was a very succesful yet predictable outcome.

Abracadabra is now a grammy-winning song and Mayhem is a grammy-winning album.

Others could only dream of having these accolades.

Tbh for AOTY the only albums of hers that truly deserved were TFM and BTW (but she was too ahead of her time and GP couldn't understand her), but the fact that neither Shallow not DWAS couldn't get her a GF win is weird especially because when u think about it is that those songs are meant for **** like the Grammys (even tho Bad Romance was definitely snubbed out of a ROTY, but again ahead of its time). Hopefully Gaga locks in for LG8 and makes it her most profound work yet that will get her that AOTY (even though thats not always what happens ie B winning aoty for her worst album)

im so bitter about it lol...I thought i'd be ok but something about seeing her cry (i know it was prob due to Bad Bunny's nice speech) got me in my feels a little. I think a new era quickly is a good idea just for the amazing traction she's gained from Mayhem. It likely wont be winning her big category grammys but it helps keep her relevant so I guess she needs to focus on maintaining traction and just feeding the fans and stuff and then hopefully in time she;ll have a "she's been snubbed" narrative around her that builds in 5 years or something....she'd need to also remain relatively commercially succesful throughout this period for her to "earn" one of the big 3 by that point which will be tough. UGH

This is true but thankfully all I care about moving forward is getting good music and seeing her live. She's been in the game almost 20 years now, I simply do not give af about things like the arbitrary status of a GF Grammy anymore.

For DWAS, I knew it wouldn't win a GF (the song is really good, but too "Grammys bait" in my opinion).But Shallow… I never got it.
