So I thought: 'oh ****, am I in trouble?' I dropped my lunch and went to talk to her. She said: 'put on this song.' And she handed me a zip drive that… well, you know what a zip drive is. But this one seemed like it was from another planet. I was like: 'what is this?' She replied: 'it's the zip drive, you plug it into the computer.' Kind of messing with me, I was like 'oh, okay.' Then she said: 'yeah, put on this song.'

So I played the new song, and if you know Pro Tools, she did the edit right there in her trailer on set, and decided not to tell anyone except me, handing me the track. In other words, it was on me to deal with stuff like: 'what new song is this? why are you playing that?' We played it, did the playback, and everyone lost their minds. On the first day, everyone freaking out: 'what are you playing? what song is that?' And I'm like, while she was over there on the other side, dying of laughter.

She was the one calling the shots, it was her money. So it was really cool working with her because she wasn't a typical director. It was her money, so she could have fun and mess around with everyone. But she worked really hard, super talented. i think most of us just held grudges against it because it blocked out the entire summer for a potential new single a la Vanish / Garden / How Bad, etc. before its arrival. And that Tim Hortons video did nothing to compensate for the wait.
