I have no idea how she could possible synthesise the visuals from three albums into a format that would work either from a story perspective, or consumer perspective. It would be absolute chaos of editing (which isn't her strong suite) if she tried to boil down over four hours worth of visuals into a 90 min film format. And if she released all of the long form videos... it would be at least four hours of videos... and honey... there is no one I like enough to sit through four hours of anything.

Its a shame she didn't release the visuals with each project because it will make them less impactful now, and harder for people to connect with

This will remain the biggest mistake of her career, not putting the Renaissance visuals out when it was current, and I will die on this hill. Because the stuff we've seen looks spectacular. As successful as the album was, it could've been a much bigger cultural moment for her had she put this out sometime between the grammys and the start of the tour. And definitely a bigger landmark in her career, a true 'Renaissance'. She let all of it go to waste.

I know why she should have released them, but with the reality of the matter, I can't help be impressed with the way one of the most mainstream releases of the year became somewhat of a cult record.

Yes, it could have been bigger, but this is still an album with a multi-week #1 hit and her longest-running song to appear on the Hot 100. I'm not trying to say "it still was succesful" but that it manages to straddle demonstrative, mainstream success while also providing a personal and intimate experience for its listeners. It'd be a different feeling completely if it was a more promoted, disseminated album with visuals to guide everyone through every track.

I love that we still imagine each track as WE feel it. I doubt any of us would have heard Single Ladies in 2008 and thought of the video, but now we hear the song and can't imagine anything but the video. With RENAISSANCE the songs are partially "your's" because you relate to them totally on your own. "You are the visuals", etc.

BUT I also think B has started to over complicated visuals in general. They started to lean towards various unconnected 'looks' and some cool backgrounds. Her best visuals are ones rooted in performance as an artist. I mean there is a reason SL is one of the best videos of all time. I really like it when she goes more lo-fi and simple. It works for her.

I was literally about to the same thing. The drama is just crazy.

She isn't going to scrap a video because Barbie talked about it…. Millions of dollars over a podcast? Nah…

If she is releasing the visuals, I think she should do it episodically, either once a week, or maybe once every two weeks.

I just desperately hope for an option to view each video individually, even if there is a long-format option.

Or just make one big movie with that Alice in Wonderland theme (or whatever it is) where she's the housewife travelling into different dimensions. I think there is something about providing an edit that is new for her (lol) and interesting here. Not EVERY song NEEDS a video, and if it doesn't come out great, why include it just to be competionist? It's better to have an intelligible story, point of view, and great visuals along the way.

I think it is an exaggeration and joke rather than something super serious - especially cuz she has NDAs and people don't speak on them unless they actually can (some exceptions are there i'm sure)

I find it odd how everything keeps happening this week after months of silence.

anyway I don't really think it's productive to look at the past eras (or even current ones) and worry about what it's not, or be angry over what it's not.

maybe you can seperate your anger from your joy, but imo it's easier/better to just focus on the joy, and let the things you aren't going to change matter far less. it's nice to day-dream, but expecting things and then getting mad about them is just setting yourself up for discontent.
