In 2024, Katy released Lifetimes as the 2nd single off her album 143. It received mixed reception.

The song is a decently catchy and upbeat House bop. It's obviously not nearly as good as Walking On Air but it still has some replay value to it.

I'm a huge stan of house music & appreciate any mpg that tries their stab at it. This song sounds like something you'd hear in Ibiza, Spain.

My main complaint though is it misses a bridge and a bridge could have way better elevated this song.

Is this song a bop? Were people too hard in 2024? Was it one of the better 143 tracks or no? Is it still a chop? ATRL re-evaluates! Discuss!

love island music but make it completely lifeless. horrible song

Still an exhausting loopy mess like most of the album but it's the better loopy mess in there. I'll go with indifferent.

No. It could e been better if it'd been done in a more acoustic style, but as is it's an overly produced mess.

It's definitely a bop. Not perfection but a decent song. 143 had plenty of duds and ofc it's all a matter of taste but i have the feeling even the decent songs are judged way too harshly bc katy was/is the current punching bag. And not unreservedly at that. But some songs still slap (imo)

basic uninspired song with AI lyrics and an even more uninspired video (Katy on vacation! groundbreaking!!) produced by a rapist

it was done way better by Ella Henderson:

A fun sexy little summery bop for the girls who like to let loose and throw caution to the wind. It's not meant to change the world

It sounds like every song UK radio was blasting 5 or 6 years ago. I don't hate it, it's just extremely forgettable.

Lyrics by a braindead monkey in a basement to the beat of a copyright free reality show transition track.

yeah no evaluation needed or warranted

It took 8 people to write this? :deadbanana2:

I don't hate it, but it's still a pass for me. Very dry and lifeless song.

This. It's way too repetitive, but that could've been forgiven if it had a bridge and a different explosive last chorus. Now it just goes nowhere

It's such a jejune, paint by numbers, elevator muzak type of thing.

it is and has always been a good song...

groundbreaking or lifechanging? no. uninspired, generic and tired? yes. catchy and inoffensive? absolutely

idk how can anyone say it's bad bad.

It's fine, but like many other songs the album, it's basic, cheaply produced and its structure feels unfinished. Peggy Gou's Na Na Na is also a repetitive house track, but the production is rich and dynamic enough that it feels complete and like something that involved actual effort.

if we're talking me being as objective as possible with as little bias as possible, thinking of it while trying to ignore who had a part in its creation, it is slightly better than Woman's World, which makes it an okay pop song. if we're talking authentically me, Joe, who has been a diehard animal forever, Katy lost me for good in 2024 and I actually can't ignore any of this. so I'll vote that I'm indifferent for life :giraffe: lifetimes :giraffe:
