Most shocking "ALMOST MPG" decline?

Featured Replies

Camila and Iggy

Camila bc not only Havana was super huge, we didnt' had a female latin-english artist in a long time (since shakira?) so she was a new thing, maybe if she followed with more latin sounds instead of trying to be "authentic" she wouldn't be a flop now

Iggy bc she was one of the first white female rapper to appear (correct me if i'm wrong) and she was the first to have a hit, she was declining but the racist lyrics completely destroyed her reputation and never allowed her to recover from that

jessie j's commercial downfall is actually still very shocking to me. if you were in the uk from 2011-2012 then you know how inescapable and massive she was over here. her 2nd album had one of the worst rollouts i've ever seen so in that sense its easy to see why it tanked, but it was a surprise that sweet talker flopped so hard when it had bang bang on it

the thread is Almost MPG and I am seeing a few in here that I would consider as actual MPGs

200.webp

And where is that next Sabrina thread ? I really need it. :WAP:

jessie j's decline in the uk in 2013 is kind of shocking to me. i know pop girls are unfortunately treated as disposable but who you are was so huge in 2011-2012. alive is extremely generic though which didn't help. her label going all in on a push in the US in 2014 after alive bombed was even more shocking :rip:

JJ's downfall in UK was not shocking, it happened to 99% percent of female pop singers in UK this millennium.

i can't think of anyone that had their career in the uk collapse as rapidly as jessie's did. she was at every huge event, her debut album went 4x platinum and produced 6 top 10 singles. only a year later and her album sales declined 83% :deadbanana2:

1. Lady Gaga (Peak: 2009-2011)

Had 2 monster smashes, with Poker Face and Just Dance

Last solo #1 was 2011, also the last year she had a solo multiplatinum album

The fact that this is actually true and not trolling  :deadbanana4:

Emili Sande, Natasha Bedingfield, Pixie Lott, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Kate Nash... Just to name few

All had +1m selling debut album and then nothing major

a lot of those had longer breaks between eras than jessie or had nowhere near as many hits during their first era

Doesn't change the fact that they all had +1m selling debut album with multiple hits and flopped with second and neve returned.

Jessie's debut album had only 3 top 10 singles BEFORE rerelease so...

Pixie Lott had 3 #1s during same time period lol

a deluxe is still the same era and my point is jessie's downfall was of a larger scale and occurred in a short period of time

Deluxe is what some of the older acts I mentioned didn't have because it wasn't a common thing. And those that I mentioned had far bigger downfall since all of their sophomore albums sold less than Jessie's sophomore album.

"No label support" Please... she wouldn't be where she is at this moment without her label support.

The Formula 1 album is an Atlantic Record release, Tate is signed to RCA.

Sophie Ellis-Bextor released a terrible comeback track. Should have made I Won't Change You the lead track. Album had no other hits on it though.

Natasha released a literal joke track as the lead for N.B.

I'm talking about her career, she has label support.

I was talking about that song specifically having no label support. Of course she has label support otherwise

I wonder how many unreleased bops Jessie has from the early 2010s. Apart from Who You Are, she also wrote Party in the USA. The vocal and songwriting talent is there.

It's crazy to me that she went from writing Party in the USA, Price Tag, Domino etc. to the boring and generic It's My Party within one era. Who You Are even had some decent album tracks like Big White Room.

Then name 1 album from MPG based on your delusional opinion that sold more (including the SPS) than TFM globally?

except Adele

typo

Dev.

Bass Down Low was a top 10 hit in the UK, Like a G6 was a US #1 hit, and then Dancing In The Dark was a decent hit peaking at #11, and then she disappeared.

Halsey. She seems to have a loyal fanbase but she was a GP darling at one point and after Manic was released everything went downhill and I can't see her recovering

Camila was the first one I thought of but when she got exposed right before launching the era that was supposed to cement her status, the writing was already on the wall so her decline wasn't that shocking anynore

no offense but some of these answers are so :rip: some of you b*tches are dumb as hell
