2. Meghan Trainor (Peak: 2015)

• Title was #9 on the IFPI year-end chart and is 3x Platinum in the US
• Title era produced 3 US top 5s, including monster smash AATB and Like I'm Gonna Lose You
• Other notable hits include No and Made You Look
• Apart from Made You Look, she hasn't had any other top 40 songs since 2016.
• Her debut album reached #1, however she hasn't had a top 15 album since 2016.

 

3. Camilla Cabello (Peak: 2017-2019)

• Had 2 monster smashes, with Havana and Senorita being the WW 1st and 3rd best selling singles of their year 
• Has had other charting songs post-Senorita, but she hasn't had a top 20 song since 2020.
• Her debut album reached #1, however her latest didn't make the top 10.

 

4. Iggy Azalea (Peak: 2014)

• Had 3 top 3 hits in 2014, including monster smashes Fancy and Problem. Black Widow was also a hit.
• The New Classic reached #2 and is 2x Platinum in the US.
• The New Classic was her first and last top 40 album. Her latest release failed to chart.
• She hasn't charted a song since 2019.

Camilla was actually shocking to me, I thought she would be bigger

jessie j's decline in the uk in 2013 is kind of shocking to me. i know pop girls are unfortunately treated as disposable but who you are was so huge in 2011-2012. alive is extremely generic though which didn't help. her label going all in on a push in the US in 2014 after alive bombed was even more shocking

Who You Are parallels Witness in a way tbh, even the short blonde haircut.

Bringing up J in this isn't necessary. J chose to help coach others to be good vocalists, as well as do reality TV in China. If she wanted to have another smash era she would imo

The moment she shaved her head, her days were numbered. That haircut was so closely tied to her brand, it was way too soon to do an image overhaul.

 

I also think Who You Are having like 5 hits in the UK in such a short space of time made people get tired of her really quickly.

Meghan Trainor's downfall was def shocking. The soccer moms and bigger girls LOVED her. Her songs were radio staples and her album did really well. No had a huge debut. I guess the second album's music was just not good enough.

 

I was more shocked Camila had any hits at all. Never liked her voice and she never managed to have an intense fanbase even during the Rep tour opening.

Nelly Furtado maybe, she was a MPG in that time but all her career after "Loose" is terrible, that Latin album only sold like 600K WW and her other 3 albums not even 1M combined.

oh for sure she was so overexposed. she was at the olympics and the diamond jubilee, on the voice, everwhere
