Dua Lipa. Everything was going so well until Houdini happened. :jonny2:

Nah i'm sorry but Dua's career remain untouchable, yes, RO wasn't a big success but she is one of the biggest female artists of these years.

Future Nostalgia peak is BIGGER than all the career of the female artists named in this thread.

I actually thought Camila was heading for real good tbh. Her 2-3 mega hits were like super huge. She just suddenly declined starting from My Oh My (which is not a bad song).

oh for sure she was so overexposed. she was at the olympics and the diamond jubilee, on the voice, everwhere :rip:

Speaking of, it's surprising that Emeli Sandé bombed so hard after her debut album was a massive seller + her Olympics payola. I remember watching the opening ceremony saying "Who even is that?"

I youtubed Meghan Trainor recently and saw she had a podcast, one with her husband that 6 or 7 of her close family and friends seem to be tuning into regularly.

10 years ago, when AATB and Lips Are Moving were happening though I could sense she was fairly "novelty". I can't put my finger on it but she never exuded star quality despite the hits, she always looked like she was destined to be a soccer mom driving a Honda Odyssey somewhere near Omaha Nebraska.

A decline is normal but the fact she went from almost a British Teenage Dream to not being able to chart at all is insane.

How does that even happen - did she have no fanbase?

1. Lady Gaga (Peak: 2009-2011)

Had 2 monster smashes, with Poker Face and Just Dance

Last solo #1 was 2011, also the last year she had a solo multiplatinum album

Her latest Jazz album was her worst performing chart effort

That's funny because I thought the same about Bruno Mars when he came out. I thought he was destined to be a college dropout surfer living off the kindness of others and being an insufferable love bomber on tinder.

katy will forever have the most shocking decline. like 2008-2014 was katy perry's world and we were all lucky to be living in it

Lorde. From massive hits and denying Katy Perry her likeliest Grammy win to becoming a complete non-factor commercially.

Why is it always the UK with their sudden breakout artists who get dropped after 1 era.

The thread about "almost MPGs," meaning that they never managed to attain this status.

Nelly Furtado maybe, she was a MPG in that time but all her career after "Loose" is terrible, that Latin album only sold like 600K WW and her other 3 albums not even 1M combined.

Yeah I was thinking of her too. Her 2nd album flopped but then she smashed with folklore, however she changed her sound drastically and kinda "sold out". She never amassed much of a fan base

Nelly was definitely a MPG. Her Loose era was so enormous that it is not prudent to deny her that status.

i don't think she had a fanbase really, she just had great songs in her first era but once the music quality declined the gp wasn't backing her anymore

Yes it was a cute little follow-up hit, but nothing massive :kitty:

?

Team and Ribs have almost 1 billion streams.

Team is like 6X platinum.

People like to discuss Katy's decline, but Lorde's decline is actually more shocking.

11.5M > 3.6M > 677K:deadbanana2:

I guess some Billie haters assumed that her trajectory would look the same, but Billie is bigger than ever with her third album.
