ijbol remember when Solar Power had no CD bc of her climate activism - she said F the planet for this album, we cheered!

  • new track in 3 days.

  • I believe Melodrama remains her magnum opus, but Virgin sounds absolutely incredible. It's the Lorde we know, yet it also feels incredibly refreshing. In Hammer, she mentioned, "I might be born again,

this will be unpopular but Clearblue is the best song

Honestly it stood out a lot for me on first listen too.

Obviously it isn't single material but I think it's an incredibly distinct piece on the album and I appreciate it

I'm so glad that everyone is getting to listen to it now

It's potentially my favorite Lorde album

I thought this album was only 35 mins but it's been 90 mins and it's still going for me ??

11/11 tracks. Perfect album. Every track hits. I will have it on repeat and it'll make my end of the year list of favorite albums.

this is GORGEOUS and DEFT stuff from Lorde oh WOW :clap3:

Every single song is gagging me??????? Something new offered in *every* track, each sonically unique, yet it all feels so cohesive and singular.

Shapeshifter and Current Affairs and David are *so* special.

Still 8 hrs to go before the collapse :chick3: But I've been playing WWT so many times at work today...

Shapeshifter - has this almost house-like production with Lorde initially speaking over the beat with her vocals progressing throughout the song. Stunning string arrangement kicks in as it goes on. Some great one liners on this one.

Favourite Daughter - It has the drums of Demi's confident with some strong synths. Very standard Lorde verses and she goes high in the chorus.

Current Affairs - I'd say this track is the closest the album gets to "The Louvre". Interesting song structure, nostalgic lyrical themes, most experimental production. Definitely my favourite.

Clearblue - Effectively an acapella track with just Lorde's vocals through a vocoder-like filter. Very Imogen Heap in nature. Not going to be the most played song but interesting harmonies and vocals Lorde delivered on it.

GWRM - I'd say this is closest to something like "Sober" from Melodrama. Absolutely booming beat, lots of interesting production details. Lorde's whisper vocals at their best.

Broken Glass - Lorde sings the chorus in her higher register. Zooming synth beat and Lorde singing naturally in verses. Not the most notable imo but I'm sure it resonates with some people.

If She Could See Me Now - I found this one interesting as early on in the song she interpolates Baby Bash's "Suga Suga" and as far as I can remember it's the first time we've seen her do that. Has more of a trip hop sound to it and feels somewhat of a matured version of a Pure Heroine track to me.

David - Strong and heartfelt closer. Rather muted in production (I'd liken the simplicity of it to Still Sane) but very strong lyrically and vocally. The last 30 seconds or so are wild and shake the production up big time.

I understand people complaining it's short, but it doesn't sound incomplete at all

This album is going to be a grower in a good way. I repeat that I love this era sonically, the electronic flourishes are chef kiss.

David is my favorite song by her. What a gorgeous track. We've all been in that situation and she creates such a beautiful atmosphere about it.

@Kayseri Mantisi have you listened to the album yet? I wanna know your thoughts!! :dancehall:

Just like Melodrama. I remember it vividly when the album came out and people said Lorde was dead. Then, the critics started to acclaim, everyone decided to give it a second shot, then fell deeply in love with it.
