The wait for Red TV was actual torture I hope she doesn’t put us through that again. I’d rather wait in anticipation for the possibilities for months then be told “it’s coming in six months!”

We will definitely have to wait at least 2 months but likely not 5  since Taylor needs time for preorders and vinyl printing.  Taylor is not releasing without vinyl ready first week since it now makes up a majority of her physical sales. 

 

They likely need to press more vinyl than they originally did for Red TV since they have been clearly underestimated first week vinyl demand for both Red and Midnights.

Yeah, I actually think She has a great shot at it esp. with a similar rollout to Midnights, but people here tend to underestimate Her so I tend to keep my predictions conservative to prevent from being lashed. Kii, I remember arguing with people who said Midnights wouldn't do 1M+

I've heard the Our Song one, and it does legitimately sound real tbh. The voice is much more mature. Of course, it could be AI as I doubt Taylor's team would be that lax and let everything leak, but there you go.

I sometimes revisit the Midnights album thread that is now closed to remember what people here were saying about Midnights' rollout. She was going to do less than 800k first week because there was no single, Midnights Mayhem was killing the hype...

Nnn oh boy, I remember fighting for my life with a few members here (no hard feelings tho and I can’t remember who) when I said I was confident she’d debut with 1M. I mean, she blew even my highest expectations out of the water - I thought 1989 numbers were possible but a stretch - but yeah. They said with a straight face she’d do 750-850k

There’s no way it killed anything, all it did was help her TikTok engagement and bring news of the new album / upcoming songs to GP members who maybe wouldn’t have known many details before. They were doing graphs showing how each episode of MMWM was having less views than the previous one. Now she must be killing the Eras Tour hype with her posts, because each one also has less likes than the previous.

Which is the smart thing to do. Letting each new album/re-recording breathe between each release is the best way to maximize sales, streams and hype. Releasing everything at once or too quickly would just waste potential for years of success to come.

The negative hype on that thread before the album came out made me take a break from ATRL, people were SO negative about everything from the song titles, the marketing,... it was HELL 

MMWM was such a nightmare 

 

The way the only time we were actually hyped about it was when she had to rush release them and reveal the Lana feature 

 

I'm glad she knows we hated it

Midnights Mayhem With Me was genuinely the most genius marketing ever and will be taught in college courses for years to come. It perfectly utilized the TikTok format for an intimate reveal ceremony in a comfy looking living room with the campy 70s theme wearing cute outfits, giving the parasocial delusion that she was talking to us individually and thus humanizing her, and only revealing titles and nothing about the songs themselves (besides those few Instagram videos talking about the lyrics) just added to the intrigue about what it all meant and what she was doing.

 

ATRL "analysts" calculated that her views were dropping as they progressed and that meant there was no hype, when it actually allowed hype to build over a two week period resulting in the explosive opening week. The amount of egg on some people's faces that day  Sometimes it helps to remember that the GP doesn't think about things the way the numbers-obsessed girls on here do.
