With that said, there are other MAJOR advantages to doing pre-release singles detached from their debuts. It allows the album to have more successful singles in general and gives the songs much longer legs. Why do you think Lover has such incredible stats? In part because she did 3 prerelease singles!

I agree, I think this is going to make her stick to only releasing singles alongside the album release

I feel like the main draw of waiting until an album release is that you get more attention and press, so more people tune in. When it's "just" a deluxe, though, this standalone single strategy - especially from someone known for not doing that - might actually be the better way to go to maximize listeners on the song's release day and drum up some excitement for the reissue. I think she'll stick to simultaneous release for new albums, but I wouldn't be shocked to see a deluxe single like this come out separately again if this strategy is successful enough.

I'm actually so excited there's a pre-release single. I feel like I'd be just as excited if it was for a full album. This kind of rollout hasn't been something she's done since 2019. The speculation after it drops... I can't wait! I really do hope that there is at least 4-5 new tracks in addition to it. That would be perfect. I have my qualms with Showgirl, but its ultimately an album I do find to be a fun listen to apart from a couple tracks. Having a few more tracks in there, especially if I really like them, will raise it in my personal rankings quite a lot.

I think it would remain grouped together with the original as TS12 just like The Anthology is always grouped with the rest of TTPD as TS11 rather than being considered distinct - as long as it's only released as a double disc edition, that is. If it's longer than an EP and gets a full standalone release, then I think it becomes a little murkier, like the distinction between The Fame and The Fame Monster, but I really doubt she'd ever do that. She's chart conscious enough that I think she'll ensure that it's either so short a standalone release isn't warranted or that it will only be sold as a full deluxe together so that all the streams and sales count together, which will significantly boost the chart longevity of The Life of a Showgirl both in the short term (that is, probably several weeks at #1) and in the long term, plus not counting as a new album because she knows TS13 will have to be a huge moment, plus no risk of screwing up any of her chart achievements.
