The simple answer is overestimation of demand. Some of these artists have no business booking 30-date arena legs. Look at the upcoming Doja Cat tour, some dates aren't even 30% sold because they overestimated her actual demand. If the tour had half the stops, or if it was entirely in theaters, this problem wouldn't exist or it certainly wouldn't be as catastrophic.
