Yeah. I read all the lyrics right now again and it is from a place of healing but why this theme as a single? out of nowhere and this is theme you release your song about? two months after your wedding? also, the lyrics does give off heavy Taylor vibes and rhyme etc. reading them again makes me think it's the real lyrics.

i'm over the singing about her past relationships even if it's in a form of advice. like, if it was a deep cut in an album, fine. great. but as a single out of nowhere?? just to sing about that? i'm not here for it. Showgirl is one of my favs. it's still my most streamed album every month this year. but Ruin The Friendship takes me out of this album. it feels so out of a place in this album. so if these are the real lyrics, i'm not for it. I could be wrong and i'd love it. but the theme of once again talking about high school or her last relationship when she already moved on and her previous relationship has been over 3 years now. this harping is too much. we got it. let's move on. let's move forward. i'm not pleading for Travis love songs. I'm a tayvis stan haha. but this theme again ESP. because it's a stand alone single out of nowhere and that's what you're singing about? 2 months after your wedding you release a song about advice because of what you went through in previous relationships? it bums me out if this is real. i'm not trying to be a hater. i'm super excited. I just think because it's like A SINGLE. where it gets a lot of attention and this is the theme?? huh?! IDK. again, if this was part of the Showgirl Deluxe tracks I wouldn't care. but the fact that this is the theme for a lead single?

I have no problem about the lyrics personally. They're not exceptional, but they're ok. To me it's more so that I expect(ed) this deluxe to bring something new to Showgirl to tie the album together, but it's not looking like it from these alleged lyrics.

I mean, good for us if it's a few more good/great songs. I'll always take it. But I didn't want this deluxe to be "here's some more songs I like" but rather something that would elevate the project.

Just a thought I had because I care more about albums as a whole than them being a collection of songs, even if the songs are good.

There's also the possibility that this is entirely fake and/or that just one song isn't enough to understand what she's doing with the deluxe, so might as well wait before speaking.

I love Showgirl and I do think it represent the theme (Ophelia, Elizabeth Taylor, Father Figure, Actually Romantic, Cancelled, title track) but Ruin The Friendship takes me out and I always felt it doesn't belong on the album. this is the song that makes me go "yeah, I understand why the haters say she's stuck in high school. like we get it, let's move on and grow up from the high school crushes. I think there's enough meat in showgirl to theme of the album. so I don't need more about what it's like being a showgirl. i'm just over the past relationships and honestly i'm over the Scooter and Scott drama. I want her to talk about the future. I LOVE Nothing New, maybe because it does talk about the past but in a mature way and looking at herself as an artist. i'm the same age as Taylor (i'm 36 and turn 37 on October 24th). i'm over the past romantic relationships that happened 18 years ago or 3 years ago. let's move on.

Honestly, yeah. maybe I do want more tayvis songs. because it'll actually be about now. even songs about their first days will be awsome. but ENOUGH with an romances that happened 18 years ago.

Very intrigued for the MV. Obviously the single cover is from the MV (or she shot the cover separately based on the MV concept). Both the TTPD and TLOAS covers basically had some bait and switch thingy going on so I'm very, very perched.

For the first time in a long time I'm not getting my hope up about a Taylor release, but all I want from this is a banging undeniably great production. I don't dislike the lyrics but I need this to absolutely explode sonically. I just want her to commit to the bit sonically more than anything. In an ideal world this would be punchy glam rock a la Blondie.

Functionally, this will act like a "lead single" on streaming and the charts, since nobody really knows whether it's for a Showgirl deluxe, a new album or just a stand-alone single.

I'm excited for it! With all the interviews lately focusing on her craft as a songwriter, this has got to be good...

Is it delusional to think that debut TV could still be coming this year? Would a November release be completely unrealistic now?

I can't see it happening if they followed the landscape of Showgirl. Showgirl is more upbeat than her previous releases, but it still not that upbeat. i'm so ready for Taylor to do big, rich, orchostra level of production again like she did in Speak Now, but ever since 1989 she keeps it so secret so it leads her to make the album solely in the studio and not go out to make a big production vibe. even if she adds violin and other instruments her productions feel really mute. I want an explosive production. but I don't see it with these vault tracks. they will all be mid-tempo.
