Yes it's a joke but he did make very good business decisions for her. Anyone who claims otherwise is in denial and seeing Taylor through rose colored glasses. Taylor is a smart business person but so was Scott Borschetta. She has way more timeless songs and less fillers under his management. She's released a lot of duds since their separation. It is unfortunate that he turned out to be a bad guy.

I noticed it right away. That's one of the things Scott Borschetta must've been really good at when you look at her music in hindsight. He made the right single choices for her. Taylor is good at some things but not all things. I like her ambitions but she is NOT a good music video director. She only has 2 good videos in my opinion: Cardigan and Ophelia. I think fame has inflated her ego. She has too many Yes people around her because she's a billionaire. They're not going to say no and I think that's a big detriment to her. This is why I want Debut TV so bad because she needs to be humbled and be reminded of her roots.

The fact you say "after Lover" when Lover has inarguably the worst single choices of her entire career.

And honestly, from folklore onward, I fail to see which singles choice was even not good, let alone bad. She even course corrected Lover by releasing Cruel Summer after the fact.

I try to avoid debating about Lover to be honest because it's acclaimed worldwide so it appears to be a very beloved album. I wouldn't have chosen ME! as a single though haha. Cruel Summer was such a missed opportunity!

If anything being able to criticise that album shows that we hold Taylor to higher standards because we know what she is capable of. Even if we're just talking about a 'fun' album, see 1989.

Though it's not even like I enjoy or listen to these other artists' "fun duds". If they're duds they're duds no matter who sings them.

i don't think the life of a showgirl is a bad album and there are a lot of gems on it, but i do agree that it wasn't up to her usual standard. it also didn't help that it followed the tortured poets department which had incredible songs like "clara bow," "the albatross," "chloe or sam or sophia or marcus," "how did it end?" and "so high school," and that's just to name a few. that album was packed with goodness. the highs on the life of a showgirl just couldn't quite reach the same heights.

Everything people say about Showgirl could be said about 19K89

So it's looking likelier and likelier to be a Showgirl re-release… what a scream.

She really saw the backlash and thought "f*ck it - these ungrateful rats are getting more terrible pop music"

I kinda take my hat off to her for standing by the art given the tsunami of hate this album has received from virtually every corner of the internet.
