You say it's not that serious but it's genuinely harmed the perception of Taylor's character for a lot of people. They think she's a bitter woman who demanded a young artist half her age fork over half the royalties from her hit song. I know you had no ill intentions, but it is contributing to a false narrative that's been blown out of proportion.
 

Anyway, the middle ground in question is that Taylor never asked for anything. Jack has confirmed this, and if he were lying, Olivia's team would've said something. That, plus Taylor was already credited for the interpolation of NYD on 1sf3sb, so why would she wait and suddenly ask for retroactive credits on deja vu? And right after she sent Olivia a handwritten 10-page letter with advice and a piece of memorabilia from one of her most iconic eras…
 

Nobody ever said that Taylor's team asked and she has no clue what's going on with her music so I'm confused where you got this from…

 

It's most reasonable to assume that Olivia's team decided to credit Taylor and co. on deja vu after the Misery Business situation. She was already in hot water for "stealing songs" and she had said on camera with Rolling Stone that Cruel Summer inspired the bridge. Naturally, in a post-Blurred Lines lawsuit industry, they decided to cover their bases and prevent any other situations from arising. And any lawyer would advise an artist not to refuse credits if offered - before you say that's what she should've done. It would set a bad precedent for any future lawsuits Taylor could be involved in.
 

That's the only scenario that makes any sense. I can't understand how any fan thinks she would've randomly demanded credits when that doesn't align with her personality at all. Much less aligning with her actions; to someone she had been very personable with and supportive of literally as recent as a week prior to this debacle.
 

The bottom line, as I previously mentioned, is that one of the people involved in this situation HAS confirmed that Taylor didn't ask for anything. Jack knows better than to boldly lie about something involving legal matters - the opposing camp would've shot his claims down immediately if untrue.

19 years into her career is INSANE  time flies. I first heard of her with Teardrops (which would air years later on Canadian tv around when Fearless came out) and I was a tiny kid who thought she was one of the most beautiful women on earth in that music video  . I wasnt really conscious enough being way too young but I just remember her being all barbie like and laying on a bed with her guitar lol. Then my next early memory of her was my entire classroom singing Love Story with a teacher since we were in a French Canadian elementary school and we were all brushing up on our English through song loool. I also remember the video for You Belong With Me and thinking it was so innovative (  ). Then I remembered Mine but not much after that for some reason (again way too young) but by that point I think she was already one of my favorite singers and it's been a beautiful journey since. My love for her craft has only grown deeper as I've gotten older.  Cant wait for her 20th anniversary next year! I really hope she makes it fun with TS12 and Debut TV as well as updating ALL her music's certification at once (would be beyond EPIC now that she owns her entire catalog).
