Should Katy Perry apologise ?

Featured Replies

Will katy apologise for working with Dr Luke ?

I feel like a lot of people would stop hating her if she had a bit more humility she did had few bad moments throughout her career where she didn't own up to it and apologise to the public and the parties involved and that has generated lot of hate.

I also would be more comfortable if she did.

No, talking about it would just bring more attention to it. Just go on the tour, lay low for a while and she can try again in few years.

People should only apologize if they genuinely acknowledge that something was inappropriate. Katy Perry clearly doesn't regret working with Dr. Luke—on the contrary, she seems proud of it. So what's the point of a forced apology? Just to save her career?!

Not to bring Lady Gaga into the conversation, but here we are. (FYI, I'm not a stan of either, though I used to admire and follow both of their careers.) Katy Perry seems to have lost herself artistically, becoming shallow in an attempt to fulfill what she really is to Capitol, a mere product (which isn't inherently wrong). Meanwhile, Gaga managed to blend commercial success with artistic authenticity.

That's the way I see it.

Exactly, it'd be a PR disaster to apologise. Best thing she can do is deliver quality music and performances without his involvement. The general public will move on and a couple of WE LOVE HER AGAIN paid posts on social media will make the narrative change.

I'd say try a female producer for most of a new album/EP but it'd be seen as performative or gimmicky unless she really commits to it. Maybe smaller steps like starting to work with more female directors/photographers for her visuals, getting more women in her writing rooms.

A quick lil single before the tour kicks off in America/Europe can also help and with a bit of good press regarding her performances and she'll be on her way to a 'redemption' arc.

That said, Katy is hellbent on always making the worst possible decision so I dont have much faith in her navigating this ship into sunny seas again ngl. And this is coming a certified Katy Kat that bought both Witless and Slime when nonne else would

Of course not. This would just make her life a living hell.

she should but she's not going to, at least not any time soon. she's about to go on tour and perform the songs he's just produced for her so if it ever happens it won't be until some time after the tour finishes

This. She is in the wrong absolutely. As another user said, she should apologize to people she knows IRL. But there is almost never a time the when internet accepts or respects an apology. It almost always makes the hate train worse because people smell blood in the water and know they can influence a famous person's behavior.

🎯🎯

she should have long ago. any apology at this point would seem fake and just a vain attempt at rehabbing her image rather than repairing any harm

She'd get hell either way because people don't want an apology (they don't even deserve it) they just want someone to vent out their frustration and their misery on someone else so :michael:

I don't think she feels that she has anything to apologize for. Seems like she's pretty content with her decision to work with him.

She's not going to apologize so the hypothetical isn't worth debating.

What isn't sustainable however is continuing to screen out questions about it for any remaining interview for the rest of her career if she plans on having one.

She should, but she's not going to. She had stopped working with him, but she went back to him later in hopes of hits. She will always chase hits. And Luke is her hitmaker.

you wake up as katy perry's manager, what should she apologize for to save her career?

She recently mentioned that she put her eggs in the wrong basket or something (I forgot the saying) and teased that she will be going on tour again so I predict that she will have a new era without Dr Luke and maybe make amends with Kesha

I still think her A&R wanted to rehab Luke's image more than anything else

She should apologize to humanity for her terrible music and out of tune vocals

No one will believe her. Most people don't care about Luke (or her, at this point) and the few people that do are immersed enough in the pop sphere to know he did the entire album and to have peeped the hundreds of interviews she did about how happy she is, how this album is a labor of love and divine femininity, how proud of it she is etc.

Maybe if she comes back in 2-3 years, having left her label, and says this was a bad time for her and that her label forced her to work with him (which is definitely not true) and that she was chasing hits to be able to stay in showbiz, but... I'm not sure even that is a sellable narrative for her. Even fewer people will care about Luke (or her) in 2-3 years from now

Honestly the GP is rarely aware of flop albums like these and I dont't think this one is an exception. Most people outside the stan world / pop culture sphere just think she stopped releasing music and dont't even know about her making music with Dr. Luke

The best thing for her to do is just move on and make new, GOOD music with a producer that isn't a rapist
