I've read other takes that the fact that DNC funding is so abysmal is a sign of how ascendant progressives have been which I know has been unpacked here already. First and foremost, how divided the party is has been underreported. I hope that's finally changing.

I feel like there's a lot to unpack here on the state of the industry generally when Kylie and Robyn are opening for Harry and the reluctance to accept Kylie was trying then gave up on making it "mainstream" in the States. I don't need to unpack Robyn's history here as the original Britney. The notion of there needing to be some "sacred" division based on perceived cultural hierarchy being gone too is kind of a shocking indicator of the monoculture being truly dead. The problem was Kylie's peak landed at the exact moment there was an intense backlash to dance-pop in the States because it was associated by default with the Euro bent of teen-pop that had just died. It's just ironic that in 2008 the new female wave happened on those exact sounds.

Each story today seems so cataclysmic by past standards I'm already exhausted. If that's too sentimental and naive so be it I guess.
